South Shore Versa Collection 5-Drawer Dresser, Gray Maple with Antique Handles

Dresser was easy to put together. The parts fit perfectly well together too. The drawers do not pull out as far as I have hoped but the quality is still good, especially for the pricing. The space in the back caught me off guard but makes it easier to move.

I never write reviews but I am for this piece and the matching 6-drawer dresser I bought with it because so many people are leaving bad reviews and I don’t understand why. I got this dresser, the 6-drawer, and two of the nightstands so we could have a complete matching master bedroom set that didn’t cost us $2000. In short, we love it. It took my boyfriend about an hour to assemble and he only needed my help to hold a few pieces steady while he screwed them in so everything would be tight. So yes, you do need two people to properly assemble it. The instructions were VERY clear from start to finish. We had zero problems, and loved that it comes with extra screws just in case. It’s a beautiful piece (and whole set) when put together. We get many compliments on it. We have been using it for almost two months and have stuffed it full of clothes, put stuff on the top, moved it around and it hasn’t fallen apart or became loose in any way. Also, it is laminated particle board, but for the price did anyone expect it to be solid wood? As long as you aren’t rough with it, it will hold up just fine. Worth the buy.

If you want a summary go to the bottom of the review. We got our package rather quick. The package is heavy but the furniture isn't as heavy. The side panels came damaged. Probably from the delivery man just dropping it. We felt that the protective packaging could've been better as well. So, we contacted customer service. Customer service was great. We sent the company a message with photos of the chips and damage by email and a few days later they sent us a message saying the replacement parts will arrive a few days later and it did; no questions asked. You can also call or have a love chat with the customer service reps if you want during service hours. My main complaint: The build of the parts could and should be better. It seems like the furniture can damage easily. However, they can come with better parts which would make the furniture pretty good. I know the quality can be better because the replacement parts they sent are way better than the parts that came with the furniture. They are of better quality. Why couldn't they come with these parts in the first place? The replacement parts probably came from a different place but if they came from the same place, why not just ship with the better parts? Also the protective packaging of the replacement parts is better,too. It was fun to build in my opinion. The drawers were a bit more time consuming. The instructions were pretty clear. In the end it came out sturdy. It could be moreso but I don't mind it the color isn't as dark as I expected; it's more of a grey. The package is heavy, the assembled furniture not as much. The furniture is decent. The assembly instructions are easy to follow. The customer service is great 5/5 but the furniture is a 4/5 at best and could definitely be a 5/5 if if the original parts were the same quality as the replacement parts.

Assembly wasn’t too hard. I put one board in the wrong way, and had to take it all apart and reassemble. I broke one of the cam connectors and had to go to Home Depot to replace it to finish assembling the drawers. Not the same size so I had to make the hole bigger—but it worked. It’s a nice looking piece of furniture and sturdy enough to withstand my teen slamming the drawers.

I am very disappointed with this dresser. While it's beautiful and exactly the color I was looking for, after carefully assembling this dresser over the course of three or so hours, it was finally ready to go...As soon as I put a few t-shirts in the top drawer, the entire thing fell apart. The drawers fells off their hinges one after the other, like dominoes. The left side unhooked from the frame by an inch or so. I was stunned. It was like something you'd see in a sitcom. I would have laughed except that I was so disappointed that this beautiful dresser was, in reality, a piece of junk. I'm checking the refund policy now, but it looks as if I can't return it if I've opened it. If anyone knows how to return it, I'd appreciate some advice.

There’s a small 1/4 in gap at the top drawer, the drawers catch a bit. Accurate to size & you don’t actually require two people to build it. The instructions could be better, I’ve seen some of the reviews ending up with large gaps in their drawers, if you build it right you won’t have them yourself. They seem to have put the drawer slide on incorrectly. I’d recommend wood glue for more solid connections although it’s not a requirement. Decent quality for a moderate price.

i've put together multiple pieces of furniture but this was by far the worst to assemble. Most of the pieces are labeled but not all of them and the directions are awful and none of the hardware is labeled and the pictures in the directions are hard to distinguish what hardware goes with which step. Once i figured out how to discern the directions it went a little faster but overall it took over 2 hours to complete just because the directions were awful. looks great put together and is very sturdy but directions need some serious work.

Bought the dressers and night tables for a spare room I was really surprised how easy it was to put together. Came well packaged and not a mark on any of the pieces. Very sturdy and well made. I put this together myself and took about 2 hours for all 3 pieces. Instructions were easy to follow. Very pleased how it looks. Great value for a well made product. Going to order my daughter a dresser for her apartment

Very happy with the overall instructions, building it looks and sturdiness, although was shipped way sooner then specified by U. P. S., grateful to get sooner but glad we had made it home to get it inside due to snow. The driver dropped it out of truck, sat it leaned up against plastic post at steps, instead of on porch. Glad it didnt sit there overnight in wet and cold upright. That said I have included a pic of and edge at front of cabinet side that has a big dent. That is because there was only full lenght profection corner cardboard on two side only not all four edges, maybe something to let manufacturer know. I can live with damage and needed it so have put together use but maybe I could get some kind of compensation damage via money off order but otherwise happy with item. Thanks Howard

It was a little wobbly after first assembly but after loading the bottom drawer, it settled right down. I didn't use the top wall-mount screw, so I'm sure if I had, I'd not have noticed anything. Sturdy, drawers work excellently and the perfect size for our second bedroom (storing guest's clothing, extra towels, bathrobes, etc.)

While it looks good and is very sturdy, there is a warning "this product can expose you to chemicals including formaldehyde". It was intended for a kids room and since I will not expose my kid to carcinogens if I have a choice, it was a complete waste of money. Now, since I have purchased South Shore for a couple decades now, I wonder if those other items had small print warnings hidden on the backing. Initial research says Enviroklenz Every Day Odor Eliminator will eliminate the chemicals. Guess I'll check it out further. Companies should have to be up front about things like this and if they're not wanting to do that, maybe don't use chemicals that cause harm. sigh
