I haven’t used this for painting. Rather, I found automotive masking tape is great to use to semi-permanently label pretty much anything as it doesn’t leave a residue when you have to remove it, unlike regular masking tape. Ink (I use a sharpie) doesn’t bleed through although it can smear. It doesn’t seem to be as high quality as 3M tape, but I don’t need that much quality for my purposes, and it costs significantly less, especially in bulk. I got the 5-pack so I could give rolls out to family members.

This tape works perfect for me. I used this to tape off headlights to restore. This doesn't have a thicker or denser feel to the 3M automotive finish tape. So for me instead of using up the more expensive 3m tape, I layer this on top of the 3M tape and drap a few layers of this tape down.After I finished my restoration, pulling everything off was pretty easy except for some stragglers. They were easy to come off as well.

It's a lot of tape but it rips when you tear off the roll. Adhesion is sufficient for short term use but is lower quality than the more expensive brand. If you do a lot of masking it's fine.

Actually I liked everything about the tape product and will order it again. Has the right amount of adhesive and is easy to remove. Some tapes are difficult to use but this product is very easy to get masking done with.

I did not realize tape could be this thin but this tape is. Not a very high tack. Anything slightly damp wet oily or not perfect this won't stick very well.Keep that in mind when ordering this. Get what you pay for..... sadlyBut if you need tape for general use and not important projects then this is a great deal.Hope this has been helpful to othersJay.

Did great for my auto paint project

Use this tape to mask off around headlights while refinishing them since they had started to turn cloudy. This tape goes on ok but comes off in bits and pieces and leaves gunk and residue behind. I spent more time trying to clean that off then to do the headlights. I use this now to tape up stuff for the garbage and even then it's almost useless as it barely sticks to itself.

Tape is thin with less adhesive than the green stuff, so easy to remove and much less residue left behind.
