Classic product to toughen the soles. I live in WA and it rains for days and then gets super dry, all that change in weather can weaken horses feet, farrier recommended applying to the sole of the feet (not the frog) 2x a week. She’s barefoot in the back and it hardened her feet nicely. Clean and dry the sole first and be careful it’s very sticky and will stain clothing.

My horse got sensitive feet after the last rain we had. He got thrush really bad as well. After treating his feet and finally got rid of his thrush he still had super sensitive feet. He’d bruise super easily and got to the point where I couldn’t take him out on trail rides anymore. He was basically arena bound. I remembered about this product from when I was a kid and thought well maybe this could help my gelding? So I bought it. After apply it daily for a week he was able to walk around my property outside the arena without going lame. After two weeks he was finally able to leave my property and go back out on trails!! This saved my horse from having to add pads to his shoes and was able to walk on hard surfaces in no time. Highly recommend anyone who’s horse has sensitive feet to use this! Worth every penny. I only use it on him once a week now, and still have plenty in the same container I originally bought after all the treatments I did. Thank you for making this product and keeping it affordable for us to buy! And thank u for saving my horses feet!

So far so good. This product does seem to be toughening up the hooves of the donkey we are using it on. It is a bit messy to use and I strongly suggest you carefully clean the threads on the brush cap and tin after each use so you don't have to use locking pliers to get it off the next time.We tried heavy brown paper to place on each hoof after applying the product so that the donkey wouldn't pick up a stone or other debris until the product sets - as it is very sticky - but the brown paper didn't work. What did work was the wax paper. Simply hold it in place for 15-20 seconds after applying the turpentine and it should stick well enough to allow your equine to walk away with the paper still intact. Once the product sets up the paper will fall off. The product requires you use a pick and a brush to clean the hoof before applying and even a very light scraping with a hoof knife so you get to a relatively clean hoof that will allow the product to penetrate. All in all a pretty good product and solution to our soft hoof problem. Don't apply it for about a week before your farrier visit as it will gum up files.

Excellent protection from moisture on a horse with very soft sore front feet. Worked so well I am afraid to stop, get it out every time it gets muddy
