Basic Cinematography: A Creative Guide to Visual Storytelling

I like what he says, but use of color makes it difficult to read
I have read many many texts on Cinematography. I found the focus of this text to be very different from what I have read so far, as they tend to be extremely technical. I would like to give this book five stars. The basic issue I have with the book is not the content (which I take to be very good), but the use of color for the pages, which make it difficult to read. E.g. black text on dark blue-gray background. I did flip through the text, thinking it would be okay. However, the design of the book and use of color distracts from the reading process. I have worked with graphic designers, and when communicating information, I was informed that a contrast sufficient between page and text is desirable to enhance the ability to read the text. When well lit, the text is readable. Content of the book is great; the design of the book makes reading the text a distraction.
