The Seven Deadly Sins: A Thomistic Guide to Vanquishing Vice and Sin

This is probably the best book I've read on the seven deadly sins
This is probably the best book I've read on the seven deadly sins. Fulton Sheen has a book called Victory Over Vice that is very good. However, what makes Kevin Vost's book stand out is that he delves into the history of the seven deadly sins, capturing writings from a few of the early Church fathers and desert fathers. He also has a chapter on Thomas Aquinas' take on the seven deadly sins. The book also includes separate chapters of each of the sins and their death dealing daughters. The only disappointment I have is on his chapter on lust, where he does not go into detail of lust's sinful daughters. Still, the book is great for learning the seven deadly sins from theological, philosophical and spiritual standpoints; and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in knowing more about these sins.

Easy read and great advice on how to overcome these 7 Deadly Sins!
Took me a while to get through the book not because it wasn't great but because I read it on my phone only during "dead times" in my schedule. Very thought provoking book. I liked how they discussed each deadly sin, some history behind it, related sisters and most importantly, how we can try to overcome these sins in our every day lives. I can't wait to dive into my next book on Virtues! Well done Kevin Vost!

Intelligent concise introduction to the Seven Deadly Sins
A view of the Seven Deadly Sins from an admittedly Catholic point of view, as previewed in its subtitle, "A Thomistic Guide to Vanquishing Vice and Virtue." I enjoyed its comprehensive and concise history of how the Seven came to be the seven in Part One. The second half of the book deals with each vice individually and discusses specific practical ways to fight, including specifically Catholic proscriptions such as confession to a priest, praying the rosary, penance, etc. Even if you're not Catholic the insights from history and this writer are helpful. Another book that addresses the spiritual issues of the seven deadly sins in great depth is "Glittering Vices" by Rebecca Konydyck DeYoung. And if you are looking for a work focusing on Acedia, I highly recommend "The Noonday Devil" by Jean-Charles Nault.

A Dominican Priest Recommended
A Dominican priest recommended this book. Woe to those promoting the vices. It’s easy to give in to them because they feel good, but all they do is harm the soul

Clear and informative book on the Seven Deadly Sins
The book was well organized starting with some history on the development on the sins, it then talks about each sin by defining them through multiple sources and then using examples of how these sins starts and manifest themselves in our lives. Good book to get a solid foundation on the seven deadly sins.
