I bought these Red LEDs as a gift for my buddy because we’re deep into reviving a 1986 Ford Centurion pickup, one of those rare, head-turning trucks that deserves details you don’t usually see on an old square-body-era dash. The whole theme is red accents everywhere (switches, wiring, hardware, the whole vibe), and the instrument cluster was one of the last “still looks like 1986” holdouts. These bulbs fixed that in about five minutes. The backstory: we’re redoing a ton of the electrical bits, cleaning grounds, repairing crusty connectors, replacing tired sockets with bright LEDs, and generally chasing down every gremlin that shows up when you bring an older truck back to life. The original cluster lighting was… fine. Dim. A little uneven. That washed-out green/blue glow that screams “factory incandescent, 40 years old.” It worked, but it didn’t match the direction of the build at all. Enter these red LEDs. The moment we popped them into the cluster backlight locations, it was like the dash leveled up into a custom cockpit. The glow is bold, modern, and perfectly on-theme, not “pink-ish,” not “orange,” but a strong, proper red that looks incredible with the other new lighting. Even better: the light is much more even across the gauges, so the speedo/tach area and the smaller gauge pods don’t look like they’re fighting each other anymore. It’s that “before/after” transformation you hope for when you order lighting parts, and honestly, it delivered harder than expected. Installation: plug-and-play, no drama These are the common T10 wedge-style bulbs, and they drop right in like a standard 168/194 replacement. They’re also non-polarity on the spec sheet, which matters because nobody wants to pull a cluster apart twice just to flip a bulb around. On an older truck like ours (simple, old-school wiring, delicate ribbon-type plug), they were totally painless! These should be compatible with any socket that takes a 168/194 bulb. Brightness: strong without looking cheap A lot of colored LEDs look “spotty” or harsh behind a factory diffuser. These didn’t. The cluster came out bright and clean, with a nice, filled-in glow that actually makes the gauges easier to read at night. On paper, they’re rated in the ballpark of ~220–250 lumens per bulb depending on the listing, and in real-world use that tracks: noticeably brighter than the tired incandescents, but still “OEM+,” not flashlight-in-your-face. Build/theme fit: 10/10 for a red-accent project If you’re doing a cohesive interior color theme, especially red, this is one of those upgrades that makes your build look intentional. We’ve been refreshing the truck’s lighting and electrical piece by piece, and these were the payoff moment where you sit back and go, “Yep. That’s the look.” Final verdict: If you’re restoring or customizing an older vehicle and want lighting that instantly makes the interior feel refreshed, buy these. As a gift, they were a home run: inexpensive, useful, and they delivered a huge visual impact the second we powered the dash back up. Our Centurion’s cluster now matches the rest of the red-accent build perfectly, and every time the key turns, it feels like progress.

So far so good! After one year they are working fine. Brightness level is very nice, was a direct swap from my incandesent side flashers on my smart fortwo.

I ordered these LED bulbs to replace the existing incandescent courtesy lights in my Crownline boat. I wanted to have red lights as opposed to the white ones which were too bright for night time use as I couldn't see outside the boat very well with them on. Because these LEDs are red I was able to keep the clear lenses on the light housings so they don't look any different when the lights are off. When the lights are on they're very bright and look nice. A word of caution though, these LED bulbs do stick up a bit higher than the original incandescent bulbs meaning they do push against the housing a little bit. I was able to squeeze them in there and they look and work just fine. Time will tell on longevity but it seems that the last for a long time.
