Very Versatile and Thick
These bags are not really made or designed for vacuum sealers. If you have an automatic vacuum sealer, the sealer will not likely be able to suck the air out of the bag. The auto feature on the vacuum will begin to self seal before getting air out. Even if you have a manual vacuum sealer, you probably will not be pleased with theses bags. This is due to the smooth inside surfaces of the bags. There are no air ridges for the air to pass through the bag for the vacuum to suck air out. If you want to remove the air from these bags, the best trick is to seal 99% of the edge leaving just enough unsealed portion to insert your jar vacuum tube. Then using the tube, remove the air, pinch the unsealed area, and seal. Because these bags are thicker than others, you may want to double seal, increase the heat, or time of the sealing process. The precut opening of these bags are on the bottom to fill. I like this design as I can open the bag from the heat sealed bottom or cut the top that exposes the use of the ziplock seal. This way, you can open the top ziplock seal and reseal, and/or if you want to make the bag smaller as you use the contents, cut the bottom and reseal. This is really good if you like plan to remove the air with the jar tube. So depending on how you plan to store and use your food, this is what you should expect with this thicker bag that should not be used with a vacuum sealer.

Sturdy and easy to seal Mylar bags for food storage
I have ordered this product before. I like the re-sealable zip top which is very convenient when filling and heat sealing the bags. Just put the dry food in the bag, add an oxygen absorber, press out the extra air, press the zip lock to seal, then use a heat-sealer to permanently seal the bag. No risk of the contents spilling out when trying to heat seal the bag because the bag is already zipped closed. With the zip top, you can drop oxygen absorbers in a dozen or more bags, press them sealed, and then take your time to properly heat seal each bag knowing you have greatly already limited each oxy absorber's exposure to outside air. These bags are tough enough that you can use them to store dried pasta that has sharp edges and not worry the pasta will poke holes in the bag.

Awesome tough bags!
At 5-mils thick, these are nice tough bags. The zip-open feature on the (presealed) bottom end is handy for keeping the bag closed once you start using it. I use a heat-sealing bar to seal mine, and have to turn it up since the plastic is heavier on these, but that's fine ... that's what I wanted. Now ... if someone would just make this identical product, but with a little texture inside, so you could vacuum pack with these instead of just filling them (oxygen absorber inserted of course!) instead, that'd be awesome! But nobody does ... so I will stick with these nice heavy-duty zip-open bags as my first choice for long term food storage.

I would recommend.
With this Corona virus going around, I became an emergency prepper. I stored some white sugar and salt. Sealed bags with an iron and a 2x4 board. So far so good. I ordered some oxygen absorbers. Will seal some beans and rice and other stuff. I would recommend these bags.

My darling son likes to backpack...
I make Meals in Jars (Dehydrated or Freeze Dried in vacuum packed jars - up to 20 year shelf life) and he didn't want to carry around a bunch of glass jars with him when he backpacked. Picky, picky, picky. So, now I can just put his meals in food saver bags and package them up in mylar bags for daily usage. (And, yes, you can vacuum seal the mylar bags) Kids of today are so spoiled!

The Perfect Fillable, Sealable Mylar Bag
I have purchased many types of mylar bags - this one is my clear favorite. It seals at the bottom (very easily with a cheap hair straightener) for quick filling and has the pre-sealed Ziploc top with tear notches for easy use later. The thickness is ideal, as not one has been punctured yet (a real challenge when placing multiple filled mylar bags together). I will only purchase 5 mil from this point on.

Mylar bags are the best...
These Mylar bags are great. They are way cheaper than the omega lids and supposedly supposed to keep food fresher, longer. Make sure you have an iron in order to seal these. My wife and I thought that these were already sealed, but they are not. It's also vey handy to have the zipper seal so you can reopen and close the bags for freshness.
