good 3D view
good to have around the house, especially a kid's bookshelf. View everything in 3D. You see amazing detail - spiders, rocks, circuit boards, flowers...Unlike a full 400x magnification biological microscope, which takes a lot of setup and sample prep work, you just put the object on the plate. Also very easy to focus.

Good Low Power Stereo Microscope
It’s a good 10x/30x stereo scope. Much better image quality than the 50x-1000x $30 digital scope I tried. It’s a great general tool; I use it mainly to examine electronic components. I do wish it had built in lighting, but I have a nearby lamp that works ok with it. Typical adult inter-pupillary distance (ipd) is 63mm. My ipd is 58mm, and most kids have ipd 41-55mm. This model’s spec minimum ipd is 55mm. When I tried my s1030n, its adjustable ipd minimum could not reach what I need. I called Celestron tech, and they just said return it. Stubborn me opened the prism housings and reseated the prism assemblies. It did the trick, so I can view in stereo now. I do not recommend you attempt that, because I’m sure someone will say it voids warranty. If you do open prisms, wear thin gloves so as not to leave fingerprints, which will degrade the view. The shortcoming must have been in final assembly and quality control.

Great for Gem and Jewelry work...
Figuring that Jewelers/Lapidarists use a 10x loupe for their work: The S10-60 is perfect for meet-point faceting, identification, flaws or just looking for tiny bugs in Amber.Highly recommended...

Good for hobby use
This is a good stereo microscope for hobby use. Good magnification. Easy to use. I bought to use camping and at site with no electricity so perfect for that purpose. Got a used one for fantastic price. Missing the specimens but the scope was all there and in new condition. I’m a scientist so did not expect a lab grade scope. Very happy with this microscope.

The ideal opportunity to introduce science to children.
I bought this Microscope for my 8 year old grandson to introduce the world of science and exploring insects. The microscope was ideal for this and worked perfectly.
