Bayou Classic 0196 36-Inch Nickel-Plated Skimmer with 8-Inch Mesh Bowl

Bought this with the stirring paddle. This is awesome, and perfect for all the shrimp/crab boils we do. Extra long, and a really great size basket. Helps getting the food out quickly and safely. Seafood can overcook quickly if you don't get it out of the boiling water fast enough, and this take care of that. I've spent many an evening using too small of these getting food out and nearly burning my arm, but no more. While a pot strainer would work even better, if you don't have or want one, this is a great alternative. The entire item is metal, so, if you leave it in the soup pot, it will get hot. That's common sense, take it out when not in use. Just last night, we had a shrimp boil, and this cleared out the 33qt pots we used in a very short time. (we had lost the strainer baskets to both of them) Good for stirring to, but, bought the paddle for that. Very good quality, very sturdy. A great price as well. For those with tender hands, have a couple of oven mitts or pot holders standing by.

I highly recommend this skimmer for removing items from a turkey cooker. The long handle ensures safety and eliminates the risk of burning oneself. It's a great kitchen tool to have!

Works great and I imagine those who complained about it rusting so easily may not have washed it immediately and allowed it to dry properly? I really like this thing and it works well where I would just like to see it a bit more sturdy. I would still recommend this to folks as it is far superior to the 'oar' type counterpart.

Used it to had plenty of length to keep away from the heat
