Very satisfied with the Garmin 610
After reading as many of the reviews as I could (before purchasing), I had concerns with the "charging" issues and the satellite recognition issues. While concerning, I purchased it anyway.Fortunately, I have not experienced any issues regarding charging the unit. None. It may be early or I may be lucky--or it may be that Gamin has addressed this concern. Time will tell. The other complaints addressed the slow recognition of tracking satellites for the GPS system. Once again, I have not experienced long delays. It usually takes somewhere between 30-45 seconds to locate a satellite. It's not instant but I don't consider less than a minute to be excessive.I really like the ability to program your workouts, the vibrating to notify you of your intervals, That's a very useable feature. The data transfer to the website is pretty easy as well. There have been complaints about Garmin's website but I have not experienced issues here either. I think spending some time on the front end understanding things helps with the frustration that could come later. There are a couple of issues that I have run in to. I am not able to transfer more than three workouts to the device--it must be a memory storage issue? On my "to-do" list to take care of but not critical at the moment. The watch is sturdy and attractive enough that you could use it for everyday use.Like most of the other reviews, I have found that the Garmin 610 is an excellent device. It has a lot of features and to maximize the use of the features, you'll want to spend time (prior to your first run) getting to know how it works. At this point, I am very satisfied with the Garmin 610 and have recommended it to my friends who run.

Highly Recommend!
Bought this watch 3 years ago for $200 with the heart rate monitor. Thought it was worth it then so at it's current price of $85 it's a great deal. My wife has the same watch, we both barely even use all the features this watch has to offer. I use it to track pace, distance and time on my daily runs and then I upload everything to the garmin express site wirelessly using the stick that plugs into a USB port on your computer. It's been three years and I have no plans or reason to get another watch. There are two issues that my wife and I both have had with our 610's. The first is that the charging connectors on the watch itself get yucky and need to be cleaned in order to get a good charge. The second issue is that we both had the pin fall out of the band so we're both using electrical tape to hold it together. I think the hole just got too big to hold the pin.I know those two issues don't do the watch justice. Keep in mind that these issues occurred after a few thousand miles and we both do push-ups and other exercise with our watches on. Although there are newer, fancier watches out there, this is a great watch that will last you a long time and is a tremendous value for what it's going for now.

Happy Trail running w my Garmin 610
After doing my research for about a week I decided to go for it! I'm a trail runner, been running for years! But I dont like running with gadgets. Became interested in the Garmin when I learned about heart rate training and the benefts of it. So I decided to get a heart rate monitor (just a simple one) until I came across the Garmin 610. GPS will come in handy for my trail running! And I LOVE the capability of the garmin guiding me back to where I started if I get lost, which I have in the past. I have not used that capability...YET. I've had the Garmin for about two weeks now and I love everything about it, except ONE thing, it's BULKY on my tiny wrist. I am 5'2, petit, w very skinny wrists and so it makes the watch look a lot bigger. Prob looks fine on reg sized wrists. I wanted to use it as an everyday watch but don't see that happening with how big it looks. I ordered new watch straps to replace the plastic straps that came w the watch(don't have them yet), read they're smaller than the original straps we shall see.All in all, watch is great and i'm very happy w it. HR is spot on. Touch screen is awesome (not oversensitive).I definitely recommend the Garmin 610 to my fellow runners :) HAPPY RUNNING!

Awesome. . . maybe not
I've had a Garmin 305 for years which I liked a lot, but it was a little quirky. This is awesome, it acquires much quicker, the mile alarm is great, the battery save feature is great, being able to wash the HRM strap is a HUGE improvement, the light is great, the feature that gets you back to the start is awesome for outdoor running and adventure. The new charging magnetic cord is smaller and far more convenient than the old model, the touch screen is a huge improvement, it isn't perfect, but pretty close, the wireless is great, I never used the software before b/c plugging in, singing in etc was too much for me to consistently do for my level of running, this does it for me. Having a GPS is a huge motivator to keep me running, I really love this one.**********Update********So basically a year later minus three months where there was too much snow to run, I used it once in the spring, it acted funny then was dead, like dead-dead, decided the battery was dead, turns out the warranty is only 1 year, so you have to send it back to garmin so the can SOLDER! in a new battery for $99 dollars. So first off this has been discontinued and you can buy another for somewhere in the neighborhood of $140 dollars. The fact that the battery is non-serviceable, it is a known issue that these frequently die after a year, garmin does nothing and charges so much were all really disappointing, this coupled with the fact that the Nuvi I bought for my wife died right after a year, screen went bad, and garmin would do nothing really has put me off on garmin. Two years ago I really liked them, now it seems like their quality has gone down a lot, they seem to have planned obsolescence for just past the warranty and leave you in the cold. Rather than pay the $99 I bought a new suunto instead largely out of principle.

Really satisfied with the product in general
Really satisfied with the product in general, but I feel like Garmin could improve everything that is software related (from installation to Garmin Connect's interface). Also, satellite acquisition takes time when you're in new places (say 5 to 10 minutes or more). After acquiring once, it's usually a lot faster (30 seconds to 1 minute or less) if you reuse the GPS nearby.Overall it's a great product for cycling and running. It is quite accurate in terms of distance/speed and it's really easy to create workouts or interval trainings with it. Swimmers SHOULD NOT buy this as it's not meant to go underwater!

Garmin Forerunner 610 Touchscreen GPS Watch With Heart Rate Monitor
So far so good, I really like this GPS. Slick looking and good functionality. Does everything I need it to. Touch screen is pretty good once you get a feel for it. Menus make sense. The strap is a little bulky, but once it's on it disappears. Training partner is a great feature.
