Youth size 11.5 gloves are the same as adult size 11.5, both 11.5-inches right? Can my 15 year old son use 11.5 to play infield?

Youth size is not the same as an adult size. You have to pick if you need right or left size but both are not coming together. I will recommend you to ask a sport expert or try the different sizes at the sport store. My brother is 9 years old and he is using 11.5 youth size. Probably this size is going to be too small for your son.

It says either left or right (not throw). Which do I choose for son that throws right

It says right hand orientation. This glove will go on the left hand for the right handed thrower

For right handed youths, you should buy a glove for the left hand. Then it's a matter of training how to use the glove to catch and using BOTH hands together to field the ball. This is a on going procedure but make it fun for them. My granddaughter throws a tennis ball on the roof and works to catch it on the fly, on one bounce etc.
