Nicomachean Ethics (The New Hackett Aristotle)

This particular book smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, so I couldn't bear being that close to it. Returned it, as I had paid almost full price for it as seller said it was in Very Good condition, and it was all except for the smell. I hope to find another good copy to read.

This edition is a significant work of scholarly service to the common good: the translation is readable and accurate, the notes provide real illumination, and the index is comprehensive and useful. It seems likely to become the new standard.

The translation is excellent, but the Becker numbers are in the text. They should definitely be in the margins or the gutter of the page. This is a huge flaw for academic use.

great book

This is a useful translation of the Ethics, but in class I found the edition published by U Chicago to be better--easier to read, and more helpful notes and so on (Collins and Bartlett translation). You might want to try that version if you are undertaking a close study of the book
