Great diamond stones.
Excellent diamond stone. Flat, consistent diamond coating and it plain works as intended. They do cut quickly. Have not had my 400, 600 or 1200 very long to gauge long term. These have seen about 30 chef sized knives and done touch-up for smaller ones. A drop of dish soap works well for me with a basic water wetting base. The three letter that starts with d lasted me 28 years worth of on-off hand sharpening. (I have a jig for the Burr King though I like to be able to do it manually.)

Excellent Coarse Diamond Plate
High quality coarse diamond plate. Vastly superior to DMT. No grit contamination. Flat. Great 1 and done plate for high carbide steel knives when desiring a toothy edge. Also works well as part of a progression to finer stones. Lasts a long time with light pressure. Alternatively can be used to lap water stones. Can be a little finicky to apex or microbevel on atoma plates because of the design of the diamond grid clusters. Some may prefer continuous diamond plates (ie without discrete clusters) such as Sharpal. Really a preference thing.

Great for Lapping whetstones.
These Atoma 400 plates are awesome. I use mine specifically to flatten my Shapton 2000 grit stone, and it performs the task perfectly. One word of advice: if you get one for lapping, only use it as a lapping plate. I made the mistake of using my first one to reprofile a carbon steel knife. After several uses and exposure to water during lapping, the embedded metal shavings rusted, and I could feel it start to lose cutting performance. Other than that, it's a fantastic tool—highly recommended as a dedicated lapping or sharpening plate.

Must have
If you are serious about knife sharpening this is a must. Flattens stones well and quickly (if you do it regularly) and is a joy to set new bevels, very quick and efficient. Not as smooth as a regular whetstone but this is only really used to prep, repair and maintain the stone or just set up the bevel at the angle you wish to sharpen by removing old material quickly. Itll even grind the print off your fingers if u rub em enough, ask me how i know. Its kind of expensive but it lasts long enough to be negligible in the long term. Would buy again (i did).

The best plates there is
My new absolutely favorite sharpening stone brand. I will NEVER buy dmt again. I TRIED my best to stay loyal to dmt after being a loyal customer over 20 years but their quality control has gone to absolute junk, I kept getting mailed dented , chipped or completely missing coating and ruste large patches on their stones and I tried THREE other retailers not just amazon. Chinese brands have better coverage and grit uniformity than new era dmt, and these Japanese made atoma? Absolutely in a class of their own, they sharpen faster and smoother than any other syle shape or type of plate I've ever used, they have 5xmore diamonds per inch than the competition. I'm going on 40 and I have been hand sharpening since I was 9 years old , I've used wetstones, ceramics, diamond, spyderco rods etc etc etc ATOMA is my new standard, THE END.

Great diamond plates
Atoma makes the best diamond stones available. The diamond are structured beautifully, like they’re handset. This grit did perfect for flattening water stones

A very good value for money stone.
Like competitors plates, the initial bite disappears. However, the 400 and 600 plates will last for years once initially broken in. It would be great to have the stones maintain the incredible bite they have when new!

Great For Truing a Whetstone
Used the Atoma sharpener to true up my sharpening stone and it worked as expected. Had the stone perfectly flat in no time! Very high quality and a great value.

This I think is a great sharpening plate, I used to remove the initial covering on a chisels flat side and to get the plate primed for use - I really like it, expensive but worth it

I'm not sure why this product is listed the way it is with "Science Purchase" in the description. If you consider diamonds science then sure but it is confusing to say the least. This product is in fact a real/authentic Atoma Diamond plate from Japan. Truing stones overtime will eventually lose their flatness but not with a diamond plate. My aluminum block came with a few light surface scuffs/scratches but that's okay. The diamond pad is adhered tightly to the block and will take some prying to remove it when it needs to be replaced in the future. Since this thing is near perfectly flat, this will will flatten/level out any whetstones in no time. It can even be used for knife repair, but I wouldn't recommend that as it'll prematurely wear out the diamonds if you do use it for metal on metal repairs. The 400grit level is perfect as its not as rough as the 140grit but still faster then then 600grit diamond plate. If you're looking for the ultimate way to keep your whetstones flat, then this diamond plate is the way to go. The pricing of $69 is also a steal compared to some other online retailers selling it for $100+ so this is an absolute bargain.

砥石の平面だし用で購入しました。ゴリゴリに砥石を削ってくれるので平面出しが苦にならなくなりました。大工道具や包丁を自宅で研がれる方は持っていて損はないと思います。おすすめします。
