Great house if you must have outdoor cats, with a few modifications
Overall this was the best for us. Sadly our neighbor got a few outdoor only "mousers" kittens but they always seemed hungry so I started feeding them and they preferred to be on our porch. We are in the mountains and already have indoor only cats because we regularly get raccoons and mountain lions and it's not safe for outdoor only cats. So to help them I wanted something warm as it gets cold and reasonably safe protection from predators. Some research said that most predators won't follow upwards and it's easier to defend so I wanted something 2 stories. Also feeding them in the 2nd story helps keep the food smell from attracting other animals. Having the window is great to let in light and see if they are there. Plus the 2nd upper floor door is great as you always want them to have a 2nd way out if needed. Constructing is easy-ish. The directions are pretty minimal but the parts are easy enough to figure out. Also not mentioned is that you need to disassemble one section to properly remove the plastic protection from the window then reassemble it. Some people have complained about some off gassing smell when first opened. Which is true because of the nice tarred roof. which is will protect well and last in the rain. This is made with real wood so it will not be super warm in very cold winter. But will look better and last and can be painted. Adding in some RV type insulation will help in very cold areas. Also I needed to modify the slide out bottom floor with a small cutout to let in a cord for a heated pad (19X19") and for a blink camera to check on them and track temperature. Being a slide out floor it only had to be large enough for the cord itself. Overall it's a great choice if you must have your cats outside.

Butterballs home
Got this for a stray cat where I work a couple years ago. Sits on the side of the house without covering, so it's constantly talking a beating from the weather. It's been through a couple of heavy winter snow falls, a few heavy rainfalls, and a lot of dry summer heat. Surprisingly enough it has held up and looks as good as the day it was bought. Easy to assemble. It opens on the side making it easier to clean. Honestly I would have to say the little house is built better than most new people homes. The shingles or whatever that stuff is still looks brand new, no chips or cracks. Usually after about a year or so you'll see bloating or splitting in the wood, there is none. Durable, yes. 2 entrance points. Seems to have a good airflow. Overall I'd say absolutely worth it. Would definitely buy again and recommend.

Horrible chemical odor but hopeful it will get better.
Edit - After it aired out overnight it didn’t smell bad. We assembled it very easily and it looks great! So far momma kitty is just laying on top of it but hopefully she’ll go in it soon. We just received this. We haven’t assembled it yet. I’m only giving three stars right now because there is an overwhelming chemical odor that was so bad, it burned our eyes and triggered my asthma and I had to take a breathing treatment immediately. We had to put everything in pieces outside. Hopefully it will air out overnight. It is going to stay outside anyway, so we don’t have to worry about the smell in our house. I’m hoping to be able to come back in a week or two and give a better rating. But for now I wanted to let others know to open the box outside.

Great house
Great house but my feral kittens are hesitant to use it with no visual to the outside. We'll be able to get them better acclimated in the spring when the window on top is uncovered from the heated pad. Easy construction, solid but light...love fir wood!

Worth Every Penny.
I purchased this to use inside as a house to put my cat's food in to keep my dogs getting into it. It also works well for my cats to hid from the dogs. It is well made and worth the money. I love how cute it is and the widow on the top is perfect for me to see in so that I can see how much food they have. The only thing we didn't like and don't use is the plastic door things. (I don't know what to call them)

Perfect! Sturdy and functions as expected!
I got this house for an outside kitty in my neighborhood. I don’t think he has a home and we are trying to get him acclimated to humans. I built this cat house and I agree with some other reviews that the chemical smell is quite strong, however, after being outside a couple of days, I don’t smell it at all anymore. Some upgrades: I added some insulation around the large side doors (I don’t see me needing to open them during the winter but if I need to, I will just redo the insulation), a couple of gaps in the roof, and around the floors that slide in. I purchased a thermometer so I can keep an eye on the temp inside the house (Its one that has the thermometer outside and the receiver inside). Very helpful. When the temps got down to 22 it stayed around 55 in the house. I also added a camera on the first floor and it sits on my patio so I can keep an eye on both of the doorways. Perfect setup for me to make sure all is well. I thought it was a good idea to put food inside so the cat(s) would figure out how to go in, unfortunately, the raccoons had a “partay” that night!! I even had an opossum visit..I didn’t even know we had raccoons or opossums in the area!! So I will be setting up a different dry food station and will not leave food out over night. The only issue I have is the plastic “curtain”. It’s very stiff when it’s cold and difficult to maneuver through and they get stuck on the mat and stand open (seen in the pic with the sleeping cat), so I will likely get some waterproof canvas and make a softer door.

I was actually quite surprised by this product as I am usually more than disappointed by these types of purchases on Amazon. Other then it was a bit smaller then I had hoped for their dimensions advertised were accurate, just wish it was a bit larger. Otherwise I was quite impressed by the quality of this cat house. It does look just like the picture and was package adequately and assembly was smooth without issue and the instructions were actually in English!! Product parts were clearly labeled and well organized and they suggested it takes 2 people to assemble it but since they used dowel joints on the main body parts it was more then easy enough to assemble by myself. Only suggestions are use a hand screwdriver for most of it to prevent splitting the wood of this type, at least to get it started and square, then use a low/gentle clutch setting on your drill to prevent stripping the holes, mostly common sense stuff like that to ensure you get a satisfactory build that will last. From the picture it almost looked like carpet on the roof pieces but it is actually shingles like on your house roof, was quite impressed that they managed to find the sweet spot between quality and affordably, great job on this product, just be patient and take your time when assembling it, it wasn't hard or frustrating, just need to follow the instructions. Would buy again and would recommend to a friend.

Love this little house. Used for a feeding station and lookout point on the deck. No issues with assembly; was easy and quick. It is very nice looking and a generous size. Good value for the money. It is all wood. The only comment I will make is that there is a chemical smell from the finish and the vinyl door flaps. It seemed to dissipate after a day or two. Cats didn't mind, but some people or pets who are sensitive my not be pleased.

Item arrived well before due date. Easy to assemble ..I made a change where the entrances are and put the porch overhang a bit higher up as it was too low I feel for cat to jump up and get in ..also made the ledge wider I did my research before buying this as I have brought other cat / dog houses that are too small or too big. .this one is perfect for one or two adult cats ..this is for a stray that has been living in my garden for over a year and he will be moving into his new home a soon as the paint has dried . I built a stand that the house sits on which can be removed. as cat loves to be up high! This will be great in the summer with the doors open and he can also lounge on the roof . I double insulated the inside all walls floors and ceiling. . he will be toastie in there .as for size I put my lhaso apso in the top and she can lay down and stand so size just right for my cat enough room to stand and stretch and he's quite a big cat. but small enough to keep his body heat in when cold outside.as for weather proof I'm sure it is I have painted in a weatherproof outdoor paint that is safe for animals. He will be under a shelter away from the rain and wind .but personally I can't see where rain could get in. . .Thank you Aivituin for designing such a wonderful cathouse. Cat is going to love it and be the envy of all his cat friends
