LOOK NO FURTHER ...THIS IS THE ONE!!!
I have had a few air mattresses...because of my work...I use them frequently and on a daily basis...this mattress is by far one of the best i've ever had....last year my favorite one I had for years which was a aero bed...finally bit the dust...I had purchased a sound sleep mattress from amazon and within a few months...it sprung leak...that I could not find...also developed some weird bubble...I did call the manufacturer and with no problem they sent me a new bed....I really appreciated the man who I spoke with and how he made my life easier by just sending a new bed out next day...but unfortunately...the second one lasted even less ...this time I found the leak...it was at the seams on the top where the "quilts" where its almost impossible to patch because the top is fuzzy...we watched a you tube video and sanded it and the whole 9 yards but the next day it sprung another leak on another seam...ugh...I wanted to like the bed because the guy at the place was so nice but truth be told...you always had to add air to it and they just were not built to last....so that brought me to this bed...I had used one once before for a few days and really liked it...and the price here on amazon was way cheaper than at Target for $200 so I decided to give it a try...now...they do offer a pillow top option for a little more money...which I thought was a good idea because I think that would help prevent leaks and add some comfortability to the product...but I wasn't impressed with the reviews on the pillow top...so I just decided to buy a pillow top on my own from amazon with better reviews...and I ended up with the Hospitology Heavenly Microfiber Goose Down Alternative Overstuffed Mattress Pad/Topper, 60-Inch by 80-Inch, Queen....it fits perfect and I love it...goes on easy...just adds a little added comfort...its not huge...don't get your hopes set on it being like a mattress...keep it in perspective and you will be fine...its just a quilted fitted sheet...which I feel help protects the mattress plus gives you more comfort then you would have with out it....definitely worth it in my opinion.... Now for the mattress itself..its a nice height...I believe the highest you can get in a regular air mattress 18"....it has an automatic pump...so you just plug it in and set the dial to the firmness you want...plush...medium...or firm...and let it go...it shuts off when its done...an awesome feature...since my other bed would just keep going...as do others and I think you can damage it if you over inflate a bed...so this is a great feature to have...its the same when you deflate it....which again....if you ever had a bed you have to shut off manually when deflating it...i have had mine overheat and shut off in a bad way...tho they still work after it rests a while. I personally like my bed firm...and it is firm...it feels great...you don't sink into the bed and wake up with a sore back...its FIRM...and thats just awesome... Now...this bed comes with a feature....(NEVER FLAT) that will refill air if any is lost...i'm just gonna tell you now...I think thats a hit or miss...I don't think mine works...not exactly sure how much air has to be lost for that to kick in...but I was able to hit the firm button manually and it was missing some air so clearly the feature never activated...to me...this is really a non issue...one...you have to keep it plugged in for that to work...and I don't really want to do that...and second....this bed really doesn't lose air like others....when you first inflate it...you may need to add air the first 2 days while it adjusts to being inflated the first time from being in a ball its whole life...but after that...it just a non issue....no matter if one or two people sleep on the bed...it maintains its air....my other bed lost some air pretty much every time you used it especially when 2 ppl slept on it... again...I have had NO issues with that and this bed.... overall...its just an amazing bed especially for people who need to use an air mattress long term...I can't even express how happy and impressed I am with it...and like I said...I have had experience with air mattresses for a few years now....and its just a great bed for an air mattress... the only thing that could make it better is if it had a head rest like my aero bed had...because thats a great feature...but you can't win them all...at least you get a good nights sleep without waking up in pain from sinking... I did contact amazon about the NEVER FLAT feature not working and they were awesome in refunding me a small portion as a resolution instead of returning it and trying again...which I felt was a great compromise..since that feature was a non issue to me ...but it was an advertised feature so I felt they should be held to a standard.... last purchase I made for this bed was a fitted sheet to go over the fitted pillow top sheet to keep the pillow top clean....this is the one I bought.... Utopia Bedding Fitted Sheet, Wrinkle, Fade & Stain Resistant, Hypoallergenic, Includes one Fitted Sheet (Queen, Black) it fit great...nice an deep.... I hope this review helps someone in making a decision...

Comfortable-feels like a real bed!
There’s a big difference between a high quality air mattress and a cheap one! I decided to spring for this one, justifying that it was only about the cost of one hotel night so it has literally paid for itself in our one trip. It is amazing! The silent air pump does truly maintain the firmness setting you start with. I tested that by letting some air out and sure enough, it returned to where it started out-silently. (The inflating/deflating pump makes noise, but the “never flat” pump is silent.) You can choose “plush”, “medium” or “firm” for automatic filling. The best thing is that when one person moves, it doesn’t disturb the other one-my husband is a restless sleeper so on cheap air mattresses, he would bounce me around and I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep-I don’t even notice him moving on this one.

Slowly Deflates, never flat pump quits
I have bought this mattress several times and loved them. They are comfortable and for an air mattress had a long life. This time 10 days after the return window so I can't just send it back it keeps going flat. Sometimes the never flat pump works and sometimes it quits but when it does work it runs all the time so I think it might be over heating? I cannot find any holes, rips or even feel where the air is leaking. I think it might just be slowly leaking from seems. The first few times we used it, it was great just like all the others but a month later when aired up it leaks slowly overnight so it is uncomfortable by morning after the never flat pump quits working. Have been trying to get a hold of Serta because it is supposed to have a 2 yr warranty but so far no luck. I read on their page that they only honor that warranty if it is bought through Serta. Com so I am not sure they will honor it and the 30 days for Amazonis over Serta has gone down hill and I am so disappointed unless they honor the warranty. Update: this is manufactured through Exxel and they said they are going to help so yeah this might have a great ending and I will change to 5 stars if it does because I did love these mattresses

Best sleep I've had in YEARS!
UPDATE, 1 year later: Changed this from 4 stars to 5. Slept on this bed EVERY NIGHT since it arrived a year ago. Perfectly comfortable. My troublesome back issues have been effectively held at bay...apparently my back was as happy with this bed as I was. Never Flat pump worked perfectly and was super quiet. Rarely EVER came on...UNTIL I recently accidentally knocked my cat off the bed one night. In her scramble to avoid the fall, she must've punctured it somewhere, though I could never find it. The Never Flat pump came on more and more often, until it got to the point it was on ALL THE TIME. Then it became too loud to allow for sleep. I lovingly laid it to rest at the recycle center last week and replaced it with a 'real' bed...a Signature Sleep Contour 8" twin mattress paired with a Pragma Bed Simple Base Bi-Fold twin frame. If not for the cat, there's no telling how long I'd have continued my relationship with this 'temporary' bed. Should I ever have need of a temporary bed (in a bedroom where the cat isn't allowed), I will definitely order another. Cannot say enough good things about this bed. Some reviewers complained of it being cold in winter. I had no issues with this (and I get cold VERY easily), perhaps because of the thick memory foam topper and flannel sheets I used during winter. Here's my original review: Been sleeping on this every night for around a month now...really loving it! Keep mine set to Firm. Adding a Serta memory foam topper allowed me to keep the support the doctor ordered, while being able to enjoy some cozy plushness as well. Deep ruffled skirt hides the fact that it's an air bed and the topper on top of it keeps the skirt and sheets from sliding around. Tossed a comforter and some pillows on it and it looks like a regular twin bed! First week I had it, I heard the Never Flat Pump come on fairly regularly...usually when I got off the bed in the morning. NEVER heard it at night...it's absurdly QUIET. Second week, I never heard it come on at all, so was beginning to think it was a dud. Before returning, I tested it by deflating it a bit, but leaving the setting on Firm. Sure enough, the Never Flat Pump kicked on, just like it was supposed to! I guess the fact that I never hear it come on is an indication it's NOT losing air! Only thing I DON'T like about it so far is that it's design does not work with standard twin fitted sheets...it's quite hard (and expensive) to find fitted twin sheets with the 18-20" pockets, and if you use one, you need to do some alteration around the air intake for the automatic pump so that airflow is not interrupted. Either that, or disable the automatic pump altogether after the first week, since it so rarely needs to come on anyway! Not sure how it would work for a larger/heavier person. I'm 5'2" and 118 lbs and it doesn't scoot around when I get on and off it. I have it sitting on a wood floor and it doesn't move unless I purposefully move it. Nice thing is that when I open and close the window it's in front of, or when I remake the bed in the mornings, it's easy to move over when I NEED to move it, since it's just air, and not a heavy wood framed bed! How it holds up as a primary bed is yet to be determined, but so far, I'm getting the best sleep I've had in YEARS! I used to wake up several times a night...I thought that was just normal. Once I fall out on this thing at night...I'm OUT til the alarm goes off in the morning, and I don't want to get up then...it's too comfy!

Great bed, high quality! Advice on leaks.
This is a great, high quality bed. It is used daily and has been holding up for the most part. When the bed is folded, it starts to create a crease in the bottom "rung" below the pump which creates a weak spot that is susceptible to holes. Forcing the bed to fold on the actual "seam" and not creating your own seam/fold while deflating will prevent "weak spots". Within the first month or so, there were a couple of holes on the top "flocked" part. (might have been from the cat running across it, can't be sure) I consider myself a veteran of using air mattresses on a daily basis and have found a way to patch holes that have withstood the test of time. Sure, this bed comes with vinyl adhesive patches but they seem to only work temporarily and I use them as reinforcement for any holes in the vinyl part (not the top flocked part). Using two items has done the trick for me. First I use a Vinyl, fabric & plastic flexible adhesive (I use the brand Loctite that can be found at Home Depot). Make sure you get a good glob on there and allow it to dry for HOURS. For the vinyl part of the bed, after it dries, I then put the patch over it as reinforcement. For the flocked part, the second thing I use is a HOT glue gun. Make sure you are generous with it and put a big glob over the hold and put a lot more around it and spreading it to the edges to make it look like spider legs so that the hot glue glob sticks to the bed. Thinner on the edges. This has worked for me. Good luck! Easy inflate and deflate (but pretty loud) but a nice high quality bed.

Overall Good Price for This Air Mattress!
Update 2-15-2020: This mattress only lasted about 12 months due to a leak in the air pump. The last Serta mattress had the same problem in the air pump, but lasted five years. The manufacturer's warranty does say it's not for everyday use. Have decided to invest in a pro air mattress by Personal Comfort. For the cost, the Serta was worth trying for the short term. Compared to the original Serta air mattress bought over five years ago, it seemed like good quality for the cost. I use this as my primary mattress. I decided not to spend lots of money for a SleepNumber air matress and saw this as an alternative. I had to add a 1/2 inch plywood base to my queen bed frame for this mattress. I've used this for about 9 months and haven't been disappointed. The matress hasn't leaked either, which surprises me! I don't even have it plugged in for the backup pump to work. I needed a softer setting then Serta allows, so I let out more air to fit my body shape. Their softest or plush setting still made my lower arm ache when sleeping on my side, but I let out more air and is still very comfortable without having an aching back or arm. I'm hoping Serta offers a remote control with variable settings for this mattress in the future. Review updated on April 28, 2018: I've had several leaks (two caused by me when I added the baseboard and side runners), but fixed them with the adhesive mylar plastic strips sent to me by the seller. Tip: Use a hair dryer on hottest temp for about a minute after applying the strips over the leak. This will speed up the sealing process of the strips by several hours. The strips don't seem to seal without applying heat to them for best performance. After two hours, I inflated the bed with success! I've also had two leaks caused by the sideboard brackets rubbing on the mattress, but fixed them with the mylar strips too. I added Duct tape on the mattress across from the sideboard brackets, which resolved that rubbing problem. After four years of use, the mattress still works well and I'm still happy with this purchase. Plus I am a side sleeper and use the Plush adjustment level on the main air pump. The never flat backup pump still works well too. The internal air coil springs make the difference on the comfort across the entire mattress! Incidentally, I added Serta's four inch memory foam topper and cloth cover to this mattress for even more comfort. You can buy the package now with the memory foam topper. So I invested about $200 and sleep very well. Surprising, I don't get hot from the all plastic mattress by adding the four inch memory foam cover to the mattress which seems to make the difference! Update on 2/13/2019: After four 1/2 years of service, I discovered another leak coming from the pump selector switch. I couldn't repair this as it appears to be an integrated switch, so I purchased a replacement mattress with the same model. I've added a plastic sheet underneath the mattress with cardboard liners inside the side and back boards for added protection and reduce the rubbing effects. Hopefully, the replacement mattress will last as long as the original mattress. Overall I'm still very happy with this air mattress. So total investment is now about $350. Still a bargain, but not sure how this mattress would hold up with a couple.

Met ALL my expectations...
Love it. Having slept on other air mattresses, I wanted something to address earlier complaints. This bed has different firmness levels, and I picked the top setting. The bed filled amazingly quickly, and deflates in about twice that time which was still very good IMO. Even at top firmness, I found the bed to have just the right amount of "give" to be comfortable and beyond notice. And, in truth, I never noticed the secondary "never flat" air pump kick in. If it did, it was indeed very quiet. Best of all, though, I'm up in age a bit, and the knees don't work as well as before, so being able to literally sit on the edge of the bed, even to dress, much as you would a regular bed, and then stand, was very welcomed. Very much satisfied. Just a couple more comments, though. This bed is very light once filled. But heavier to carry when not. Still, this makes it easy to just lift mattress ends up for fitting sheets and such. Speaking of sheets, this was a twin, a very deep twin, an 18" twin, and I could not fine fitted sheets to handle. Most are 14" fitting a max of 16". I found one set of 16" fitting a max of 18". That max of 18" means it just reaches the bottom edge, and doesn't really fit past and underneath as did the mattress pad I ordered. So the fitted sheet did slip up the side of the mattress a bit, but not enough to remaking the bed constantly. And, in fact, I only noticed when taking off sheets to wash. But if anyone has found a set of twin sheets fitting 18"-22", as did the mattress pad, then please post a comment here. Lastly, because the mattress is indeed light, and I had placed on a natural wood floor, I found it moved a bit on the floor during the night. Not a big deal for me. Lastly again, I also found I was able to use an electric blanket with the mattress. Which had concerned me. But with a mattress pad and two sheets between the mattress and electric blanket, it seemed to work out okay. Time will tell. But this was for use in an unheated guest room, and was willing to give it a try. Nicest visit I've had. My own bed. And heat. Nice.

Brand name does not live up to Quality!
I experience the same problem, like other customers. I purchased this airbed because, I am familiar with the brand name "SERTA." But, unfortunately Serta as an airbed vs their mattresses, is not same. I'm just sorry I didn't read the reviews on this airbed. I share my thoughts with another customer, who went through, the same thing I went through. Only it happened to the customer when the y received the second mattress. They 2 patches they provide does absolutely nothing, and seeing a photo from that customer, is exactly where the hole started. I think Serta should investigate, if someone in the employ, is sabotaging the mattresses, starting from a pin hole about the size of a sewing needle. Apparently I must have been sleeping on top of the tiny hole, and gradually, when it automatically inflates, it was causing the whole to widen out. Serta is a Quality name, and their mattresses are Excellent. I must say, when I purchased this on Nov. 14th, up until last week, when it starting slowly deflate, on an overall rating, yes, it was very comfortable, and I slept great. The main reasons why I purchase Serta, was the Name and Quality, and also the fact that it would cut off at the right firmness to what you set it for. I was going to request with Amazon for a replacement, but they did not have anymore in stock. I'm going to attempt to call the company, to see if they will resend me a replacement being that I am under their warranty.
