Enjoying it
As a complete newbie and going through the self-taught route, so don't have any point of reference about a saxophone being good or bad. The saxophone appears to be well built, key actions are responsive and the sound is decent to me. The mouthpiece supplied has a model no. AS-4 which is listed for $69 on their web site and the ligature is a Rico H ligature. One Rico 2.5 reed. Not as bog standard as I expected. The material case is quite solid too. Not much room for the horn to move inside. I have been playing daily for the past week, no complain.so far. Bottom line: this is more than a decent horn for a beginner in my newbie opinion.

Excellent.
I used to play alto sax and spent 3 years in a military band but haven't played for 60 years ! Recently decided to start playing again just for my own pleasure. After reading several revues of the Jean Paul Alto, I ordered one from Amazon. It certainly lives up to the excellent revues. The instument is beautifully finished and very playable straight out of its case. After sourcing some slightly softer reeds from Amazon, even after 60 years I was able to play tunes quite easily on this lovely instrument. For the asking price, this just has to be the best option for anyone wanting to get into playing saxophone as well as the more experienced players looking for a good sax. Highly recommended.

This sounds awesome
I have been looking for a new intermediate level alto saxophone for a while . I started out playing as an absolute beginner two years ago on the Eastar sax it was the cheapest sax I could find on Amazon. In the picture you can see my two saxes . On the right is my brand-new Jean-Paul AS 400 alto saxophone. I bought the saxophone in December 2021. And it has been fine and I will enjoy playing it however, I have encountered a repeating problem. In the picture below is a close-up of the octave mechanism for my saxophone. Unfortunately the pin that assists the operation of the lifting and closing of the octave hall keeps falling out or slipping out of its desired position which of course sometimes when does the octave lever in operable. This can be quite embarrassing when performing in front of people which I have done on a number of occasions. It’s tone is sweet and in tune all the way up the registers and the action is smooth and tight, but light enough to play fast . The only fault I have found so far is that one I’ve mentioned above.

Good beginner/ intermediate saxophone
Looked at product reviews and also took advice from professional musicians and saxophonists before selecting this instrument to purchase. Was not disappointed, good sound and intonation throughout range and supplied mouthpiece is good ( although I use a Yamaha 4c generally). Pleased with this purchase, the quality of the package as a whole and the instrument particularly.

Impeccable presentation in the box...I was stunned to find a high- caliber mouthpiece and ligature included, plus a standard JP mouthpiece. Gorgeous and flawless looking...I was horrified yesterday when a Silver model arrived and I found it was used and fingerprints and white stain on the horn and a funky mouthpiece that had been used. and a broken neck bolt lying in the mess....Amazon is not to blame for these kind of things, they have no control over that..I soaked a quality reed and set up the mouthpiece..behold..the dream sound. slightly dark, which I love and have not been able to find till now. I didn't want to stop playing but I have dinner engagement tonight, anxiously I will await to continue this excitement...hope continues to go well...Jay's video was right on, comparing this horn to the much pricier Selmer, which he felt did not have the same depth as this horn..I agree.. I will continue to report as the days go by and I become more familiar with this instrument....two days later: today I tried out a different brand, in this price range..did not like it at all....also a third brand..pretty good..but lacking the depth and character of the Jean Paul..also none can compare with the quality, and not the run of the mill cases...this is a very fine case..the pro mouthpiece and ligature and cap and the gorgeous case alone would cost 200 dollars or more...d'addario mouthpiece..I have a few..all cost over 100 dollars...so I continue to hope this horn will hold up because Im quite sure, nothing under a 1000 ..can touch it....(im not on any brands side...only to satisfy myself and the sound im looking for...)..no one need agree with me, it's just my preference....today played along with a few friends..found out upper keys out of tune..different quality mouthpieces did not correct..also sounds a bit 'tinny' ..high notes...mmmmm don't like that...I take it to woodwind shop tomorrow and see if they can do something...
