Great in-line booster fan. You get what you pay for.
Very satisfied with this product. Purchased it for a room that is far from the HVAC and doesn't get enough air to keep it warm in the winter or cool in the summer. Problem solved.Pros:It is very quiet; I can't even hear it behind open indoor blinds (which lead to the attic crawl space where it is installed) and it moves more than plenty enough air for a good size room on its slow setting. We have it installed next to our bedroom and can't even hear it at night. On the high setting it can move enough air for a large room and while a little noisier, it's negligible. The sound from the air leaving the register is louder than the fan itself.I installed this booster fan with a pressure switch in my HVAC system so that it is only on when they system is on, saving me money, and used a "rocker" switch to switch between the high and low fan speeds. One thing to note: This fan CAN NOT use a dimmer or "rotary control fan speed dial" as amazon suggests. Using one can burn out the motor. The fan speed in this unit is pre-configured with two separate line inputs (one for fan fast and one for fan slow) and a single neutral return to the panel. This is where the rocker switch comes in -it is used to send the power to either the fan-fast wire OR the fan-slow wire. There is no ground for this unit.CONS:The rings that connect the ductwork wraps around seem to be pulled off with a good tug. A simple tightening of the ring clamp attaching the ductwork to the fan worked well enough to alleviate any problem.Size: This thing is BIG! Bigger than the pictures make it out to be. Make sure to measure your installation space! Check out the side by side of a 15" macbook pro compared to this guy I've attached!

Received a single speed (high) only TD-150S!
Received a S&P TD-150S fan with what seems a single speed wiring setup. Only a black/white set of wires with a 2 port screw terminal. The funny thing is the brown wire is visible through the hole where the wires go to the motor but is cut short enough to not be usable. Additionally the manual only has a single speed wiring diagram. Not sure if this is on purpose, but definitely doesn't match what is advertised as a high/low capable TD-150S. Going back to AmazonEdit:Well after researching the fan, it seems the silent version is only 1 speed. the normal td-150 has 2 speeds. I hope they update the product page to reflect this fact.Edit #2:Called S&P and was told by their tech staff that the newly shipped TD 100-250 model fans have all been changed to single speed only wiring due to Energy Star certification. The brown wire that is cut within my fan is the low speed wire that could still be used if I can somehow do so. Still doesn't meet my needs and dropping review to two stars and I don't like it and the product information is not clear on Amazon.

Not cheap, but perfect!
I've got two big rooms with high ceilings in the front of my house that are underserved for heat and AC by only two floor vents. Long story, but for this house adding more ducts just isn't an option, and partially closing ducts in the back to get more air to the front isn't effective. So in hot weather, the front of the house is hot and the back is cold; in cold weather, of course, the reverse is true.I did a lot of research and experimentation before settling on this duct fan to fix the problem. Read a lot of online comments from people who bought fans that were too noisy or wore out too fast. Read notes from people who say booster fans don't work at all. So I actually bought the Soler and Palau 150 and the 150S and tried them side-by side. I removed the floor vent grates, set one fan on each vent hole, and used masking tape to seal the gaps -- just to see how much noise the fans would make and to see if it would move enough air to make a difference. The 150 was better than most other fans, but the 150 S was amazing -- really remarkably quiet. And it moved plenty of air. I found that wiring them on the low setting still moved enough air, and was great for noise level. Really quiet. And after hearing them side by side, I returned the 150 and bought a second 150 S.So satisfied that it would move enough air, and was quiet enough, I installed two of these in the crawl space, about 10 feet before the floor vents, switched to go on when the main heat/AC blower goes on. The difference is like night & day. Now the front and back of the house are well balanced and comfortable for heat & AC. And of course installing them under the floor means they're even quieter. I actually hear more noise from the return vents than from the two new "boosted" supply vents.Like I said at the start, adding more vents was just not possible in this house. While the S&P TD-150S was expensive compared with some other fans, it's really worth it. Sealed bearings so I know it will last; quiet enough so you really don't know it's there; and it moves enough air to fix my system imbalance. One last note -- I considered adding on-off/speed switches for both fans and mounting these next to the thermostat. But the sound level is so low, and the air volume is just right when these are wired at the lower speed setting, so I just went for it with no manual on/off/speed setting.Bottom line: I really went to town figuring out what to buy. This was an expensive unit but absolutely worth it for my needs.
