Marco Polo: Overland to China (In the Footsteps of Explorers)

I was not aware that this was a children's book. Perhaps I should have been more careful in purchasing [email protected]

I expected a large detailed book about Marco Polo's travels, not a picture book,But it gave me an overall view.

Before reading this I really couldn't tell you anything about Marco Polo other than he was a famous explorer and there is a fun pool-time activity named after him. This book really illustrated how removed and isolated China was at the time from the rest of the world; causing wild myths to spread about their people and culture. Also covered are some of the animals, geography, and hardships that the Polo’s faced on their lengthy journey. A nice addition to any elementary/middle school classroom or library.

These books are a perfect classroom resource for my 5th graders.

I used this book as a supplement to history and my kids really enjoyed it. It was very easy to understand and didn't overwhelm them with boring, dry, information.

I purchased this book for my nephew and it didn't disappoint. This type of history isn't covered well in his curriculum and this book did a wonderful job of filling the gap. Advertised as recommended for grades 4-7, so no confusion there.
