CE SmithKeel Roller/Bracket Assembly - Sturdy, Adjustable Boating Tool - 8"

I had read other reviews on this roller and thought maybe they were isolated incidents. I was wrong. The cap on the center spindle fell off yesterday as I was retrieving my boat and I almost lost the roller in the water! I called the manufacturer and they offered to send me a new cap but that was all they would do! Seriously, if a number of customers have had the same problem, you would think the company would revisit this design issue…apparently not. Buyer beware!

Roller not used for a boat. Roller makes a great cable guide for an equipment trailer wench cable. Roller assembly very sturdy.

Per recommendation from other reviews, I checked the strength of the retaining caps and they fell off in my hands. I removed the caps, drilled through the rod on a drill press, and installed heavy lockwire. The shaft is somewhat hardened and so a drill press is recommended. To slow rust, I sprayed cold galvanizing compound all over. It's able to support the bow of my 5000lb boat well. I'd recommend this, but only if you can modify it like this.

I've had this installed on my trailer for sometime now. It is holding up to the elements and loading/launching boat just fine. It isn't exactly what i wanted the bracket is a little to big for my application but it was all that was available. It does it's job.

Good and solid roller. It'd be nice to have a couple more connection options.

This is well made and works as I expected. We attached 2 to the wooden bed of a a 14" traiIer. It makes sliding our 12" inflatable Zodiac boat in and out much easier.
