I decided to go with a Paddington Bear theme for my 4th baby. This plush is super soft and seems like it will hold up well against play. For now, it is just sitting as a decoration but I'm sure my son will play with it when he gets older.I would say it's about medium size. It does not have any sounds or buttons, but I prefer our stuffed animals to cuddly and without sound.

I was not sure whether I should order the bear based on some of the negative reviews. I am glad that I did not let them stop me from getting this excellent version of Paddington. To address some of those negatives: This is not for babies or toddlers who are predisposed to put everything in their mouths. This is for a child of at least 4 or 5 years old and one who does not tend to destroy their toys. As for stiff, I would characterize the bear as a soft plush that is packed firm with stuffing. He is designed to stand, but he is cuddly. Although packaged in a plastic bag inside the shipping box, my Paddington arrived in pristine condition. His hat and coat are made of a thick felt material that will crease if folded. The coat is very nicely made with great detail and it fits the bear very well. As an added bonus, there is a thick cardboard tag in the shape of a suitcase and looking just like his suitcase, stickers and all, attached to his hand. His hat is attached in a couple of places, but the stitches can be easily cut and the hat removed, revealing his famous black ears. I have not tried it, but it looks like the coat and boots can also be removed. This is a very cute Paddington, one of the best mass produced Paddingtons I have seen, with exceptions made for the Steiff Paddingtons and various OOAK artist bears.

Many kids in this generation may not know Paddington Bear aside from the movie here in the United States. While the movie is great and I know my child really enjoyed watching it I do feel introducing your kids to the classic book that introduced the character to the world is probably the best way to go. That being said my kid saw the movie first, and now he has the Blu-ray and watches that many times as well. The character is engrained in his head in a very positive way. It's only natural getting a good doll would be the next step. And honestly this is the best one available if you want one that resembles the movie character.Other "movie" Paddington dolls are pretty small. Too small to really measure up to your standard stuffed animal. This one may not be a big stuffed animal, but at 12" he measures right up with my son's Build-A-Bear and other stuffed toys easily. It's a pretty decent build too. The fur is soft and feels nice. The coat and hat have the right feel as well (no wood buttons as it's all just sewn details). The marmalade sandwich is a nice touch that I thought was a bit much, however my son loves "feeding" Paddington with it so all the better. The tag around Paddington's neck is a nice touch as well, with writing on both the front and back. The is not laminated and will crease or break if your kid takes it around everywhere. However you can take the tag off easy enough, even without having to cut the string. The coat also looks like you can remove it if you wish. The hat seems to be sewn on four points; keeping it secure on his head. Best of all he looks a lot like Paddington from the movies.The one thing that bugs me is the hat. The brim tends to ride up instead of down like I remember seeing in the books and film. To make the whole ensemble look right you have to push that hat brim down constantly. I suppose having the wooden buttons on his coat would have really made this doll complete, however I understand toy makers have to keep things under budget.Paddington Bear is one of those classic characters that deserve to remain in the psyche of future generations much like Snoopy or Winnie the Pooh. While there are dolls that cover the limitations I mentioned they tend to be a good deal more expensive, and don't have the same look from the movie as this one does. If you are looking for a Paddington movie doll go ahead and spend the extra money and get this one instead of the 9" doll. It's well worth it for your kid.

I am very pleased with my purchase. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. More importantly, it’s an authentic Paddington bear with the YOTTOY tags attached to it. Some of the other Paddington bears offered on Amazon had negative reviews claiming that the bear wasn’t authentic and they didn’t look like the pictures on Amazon. Therefore, I’m very glad that I chose this Paddington!
