WN is a good brand for painting
For oil painting. WN is a brand that is affordable and reliable. The only NEGATIVE character is the LID of the tube. Once it is pulled out it is very hard to put it back in. After awhile you will loose all the lids and the oil pant on top of the tubes get harden and not able to squeeze out. We have to use a poker to put a hole in it and squeeze it out as much as we can. Pretty soon all paint will be totally harden and you have to buy a new tube. What a shame. I am surprise that no one has ever complain about this. Maybe, they have but the comapany does not listen.

Not raw siena
Not Raw Sienna, labeled as "cadmium yellow" but contained Yellow Ocre,...don't buy Windsor Newton buy Graham, its less diluted and when you order a color that is what you get. Having stated this, I paint a lot and I would still but Windsor Zinc White ( not so diluted not so easy to screw-up the color and it's priced right). Buyers, painters, and beginners,.. be advised!

Violets can be particularly tricky to mix on your own. They turn brown, or too red or too blue very easily. This violet is lovely as a color on its own and for shadows in light bright paintings!

Very Disappointed
The oil paint shipped in a large box and I found the tube of paint inside the box without ANY packing material (thankfully the tube wasn't busted open). I was also very disappointed as this appears to be an old tube of paint with the pigment seperating from the linseed oil. I have purchased many tubes of Winsor and Newton and they have never been like this. I am very curious to see how it performs on canvas.

Cadmium yellow dark
It’s very dark for a cadmium yellow and can’t be mixed with blue to make a green. Well it can, but the brightest green you’re going to get is olive/army green. It definitely has an orange tone in it, which surprised me for a cadmium yellow. The paint quality itself though is great. I love this brand.

Oil has separated some.
I’ve been buying mostly Winsor & Newton paints for awhile now and I was a bit disappointed in this large sized titanium white because when I first opened it lots of oil came running out and down the side of the tube. I’ve tried storing it lid down hoping the oil would move upwards but doesn’t seem to help. The paint I have used out of it so far seems to be ok as far I can tell. Anyone know of a solution let me know.

I love Winsor and Newton
I love Winsor and Newton. They are top quality! I used this, and other colours, a year ago, to paint some statues that are outside. I still need to clear coat the statues. When I have been by to see them, the colours are still vibrant and have not flaked. I was very worried because I painted them for somebody. I am imagining that after a year, the paint should be cured enough to add the clear protective ultraviolet coat over it.

Essential for oil painting.
Good quality paint with a transparent property. As I do portraits, I will always have this paint in stock.

Very useful in portraiture
This is a very useful colour to have handy for portraiture. It offers a cooler variation to English Red, and used in very small amounts with things like burnt siena, raw umber, and even Van Dyke Brown (Rembrandt range), can add warmth to skin tones in lighter and even very dark skins. As with all reds, it must be controlled to prevent it overpowering the painting, but used with some skill, it is a great addition to a portrait palette.

I am disappointed with white oil paint
Not sure about white paint from Winsor & Newton on too many occasions I have found new tubes the paint has separated within the tube and you open it up for the 1st time and you get a large amount of clear oil substance. Not what you want on your pallet. If ok the paint is great for those bright spots within the painting. This is pure white much brighter than Zinc used mainly for mixing with other oils.only ordered from this site for paints so not sure if I ordered from another outlet if the paint would be better.I now when receiving new paints leave them within the box package and keep them upright until use.
