They work.
I recently walked 500 miles across Spain and these socks were wonderful during the rainy days. Whether I used them with sandals or tennis shoes they kept my feet dry. I did wear a thin sock on my feet before putting the Layeba on. I figured this would help control sweat. What amazed me the most is how well they protected my feet when I walked with sandals. Little pebbles would get under the feet at times but my feet never got hurt. When I arrived at my destination I noticed that some of the pebbles had been pushed down into the sandal material but the socks were so strong and comfortable that I did not know they were there. I am very impressed by the performance of these socks. My walking friend wanted to buy a pair but we did not find them in any sports store we visited.

Fingers crossed these work!
I haven't tested them yet but I think they'll do fine. They feel water proof. The size is a bit large - I'll wear sock liners with them and they'll be fine. I got the blue ones (cheaper) - which is perfect as I will probably only wear them on a trip to Norway in January. Great value

Cute & waterproof
These socks look great. It took some time to get accustomed to the texture.

Very happy with these
I took them hiking in the Olympic NP rain forest during rainy season. It rained all the time, and these kept my feet dry. The toe box does bunch a little, which is annoying. But they didn't blister my feet over 30+ miles and 4000+ feet of elevation gain. I plan to use these with trail runners whenever I am hiking in wet areas.

Okay.
These are okay for socks, but not if you are depending on them for "waterproof." Pass.

They are water proof.
I like these socks, I thought they were plenty comfortable. They are however a different fit and feel than a conventional sock. Kind of like a fleece lined wet suit. I bought them for wearing with my Teva's and they are perfect for that. I thought they would be to thick for hiking boots but turned out to be great! They feel thick but are no thicker than a heavy boot sock.

Well worth it.
Works incredibly well. No water seeps through, also keeps feet warm and provides cushioning
