Seymour Duncan JB and Jazz Hot Rodded Humbucker Set - Electric Guitar Pickups, Perfect for Blues, Rock, Country, and Metal

I had a Schecter C-1 with EMG X Series active pickups. I decided to put passive pickups and sold the EMGs on Ebay. For $130 you can't go wrong. All I had to do was install a mono jack and I used copper foil tape because the guitar did not have a hole for the ground that goes to the bridge. So I just took the ground wire and soldered it to some copper foil in the battery compartment. I don't have the luxury of turning an amp loud cause I live in an apartment, but I can assure you the sustain is pretty good. These pickups are good for metal and probably heavy blues. But like any high output pickups you can coil tap these or turn down the volume and play some very nice clean tones. Also what I noticed was that pickups that are not covered with a plate have a better sound. I hear more clarity. I simply never buy plated pickups, they cost more and I like the picking sound of my pick when it hits the strings. As I said earlier I have to play at lower volumes in my apartment. Glad I bought these. And remember you cannot judge Seymour Duncan pickups by just one kind, they all have there own outputs. So make sure you really check them out so you don't get disappointed. I had a Schecter Solo 6 with the Seymour Duncan SH-11 and '59. they were alright pickups but they did not have the output and clarity that these pickups have. Also they were plated. So be sure to check out how each pickup works and don't judge one set if you have not heard any of the others, common sense.

I have a late 90's Carvin SC90 W/ humbuckers & 2 coil splitting switches. It's a beautifully made guitar. Solid mahogany body w/ flame maple top. I hated the way it sounded. The pick ups(pups) are C-22's which are Carvin OEM. I decided to give the guitar one more chance before I got rid of it. I was going to install a Seymour Duncan JB & a '59 like I did with my Les Paul. As I was browsing on Amazon I found the Hot Rod Special (Seymour Duncan JB & Jazz). I went to the Seymour Duncan web site & listened to what the Jazz sounded like. Sounded good to me, so I placed the order with Amazon. I received the pups in 3 days. I had never rewired a guitar before, but got through it with no problems. The guitar is now a screamer. It sounds a lot like my Les Paul only a little hotter. The split coil settings give it a Tele type sound. With the Jazz in the neck position I get a very cool single coil sound that is great for chords & a crunch type setting on my amp (Rivera). I don't think I could have made a better choice. Remember, there is only one thing that translates what you play & that the pups. If they suck so does your sound.

If you are looking for a set of pickups to make a cheap guitar into something great, this is it. I installed these on my $500 Epiphone Les Paul Standard. The Jazz is typical classic Les Paul, warm, mellow and classic Slash when distorted. The JB breaks up easily, you can get everything from modern hard rock to classic ZZ-top style blues. I don't use clean tones very often so I can't comment too much but they sound great there as well. I also have both set up to coil-split and when I do it sounds eerily like a Tele. I'd recommend these pickups most to a rock guitarist, they aren't going to get a saturated modern metal tone without effects. These are both fantastic pickups and they made a cheap guitar into one of my favorites. They don't give you great tone "for the money" they just give you great tone.

Nice nice nice sound. I did all my own wiring. In total, this full setup with pickups and tuners and Babicz bridge and a few other tweaks took 16 hours. I lined the pockets with foil tape and installed a frame tuner as well as new pots and bridge. And I made an error that had to be fixed. This was a full setup. If it was just the pickups and wiring it would have been around 4 hours maybe less with standard wiring. I used the Jimmy Page style diagram from the SD website. It is complicated but the results are outstanding. There are so many sound styles available in this setup now! I used a standard soldering iron with silver solder. I used 22AWG stranded 600v teflon insulated wire. I used Bourns split top short 500k push/pull pots, a Musiclily 3 way toggle and a Dimarzio jack. Finally, I used a pair of .047uf 200v orange drop capacitors. All of which I bought here on Amazon. I've done 3 wiring jobs before. Solder is not that difficult and neither is following the diagram. As long as you aren't shorting out a connection (which I did and took 3 hours to find and fix) the result is awesome.

Love these pickups, they actually match the paint on my guitar, but most of all very versatile. Rock, jazz, and some funk. YouTube have videos that can give you a idea of what they sound like!

I recently bought a $150 Jackson DK. Everything was great, but it sounded too bright and thin for my liking. After a few months, I really began to dislike the sound. I saw all the YouTube videos of people replacing their cheap pickups with this set, and I really couldn't tell the difference. So I thought the wood (poplar body) was to blame for the ultra bright sound, and I was hesitant to buy these pups which cost as much as the guitar. But I figured if they don't make the Jackson sound good, then I will try them in my more expensive Gibson LP (the sound of which I already liked). I pulled the trigger, and these pups changed the sound quite a lot on the Jackson. It made the mid-range a lot clearer, and the high notes are still bright but not so annoyingly thin anymore. I really like playing it now. I now believe the Jazz/JB combo hype. It was well worth the price.

Dropped these in to rebuild a free guitar given to me by neighbor, very pleased with the output from these pickups, great warm low tones, and after a little research not very hard to install, if you are comfortable with soldering low voltage wires. These have deffinatley transformed this non working paperweight, into a functioning instrument.

I love these pickups. They can get various sounds and were very easy to install. I think they are worth there price and then some.

I bought these to replace the original pickups on my Peavey T-60, which were the toaster type and sounded a little brittle. So I had read a few reviews and seen other T-60 guitars on YouTube that had Seymour Duncan humbuckers fitted, and thought I might do the same and see if it would improve the sound in any way. Well, it did...massively! Once I'd adjusted the height correctly, or distance from the strings. At first they sounded pretty awful and I thought "what the heck have I done!" But the I realised they were quite close to the strings and lowered them till they were about 3/16" to 1/4" away, and wow! It all the flexibility of the peavey t-60 volume and tone controls suddenly had become massively improved, transforming an already amazing guitar into an outstanding one. More power on tap than ever before, more crunch when needed, more clarity, increased tonal response. In short, anything from delicate detailed peaces, melodic blues to out and out heavy rock or metal I could get by setting up my amp to just one setting and by lowering or raising the guitar volume or tone knobs and switching from single coil to humbuckers on neck, bridge or both. Phew...!! That was tiring, anyway glad I got em and they have truly hotrodded my guitar. Huh, forget your les Paul's, tele's and strats. I have the lot in one guitar!!!!! Recommended? Yep!!!

Las pastillas tienen una amplia paleta de tonos que van de los cálidos y profundos a los agudos y estridentes, es muy versátil. Las instale en una Les Paul genérica y es como si hubiera conseguido una guitarra nueva. Recomiendo el cableado de los años 50's que hace que el cambio de tonos ofrezca aún más posibilidades de sonidos. Es importante conectar el cable de tierra y el verde juntos, así como el blanco y el rojo los cuales hay que dejarlos por separado y aislados. Si las pide a México, recomiendo que sea por DHL u otra paquetería, ya que por correo ordinario en México (sepomex) los tiempos se hacen más largos y a veces el paquete e difícil de rastrear debido a que es un paquete de un tamaño pequeño se maneja como ordinario. Son de muy alta calidad, realmente una buena inversión si se quiere mejorar cualquier guitarra de baja, media e inclusive alta gama.
