Another great Dreamboats summer collection
This is a sequel to Dreamboats and Petticoats Summer Holiday which was released in 2010, so if you are thinking there are some great sixties summer classics that should be on this compilation but aren't, they are likely to be on the earlier compilation. The opening tracks on each CD (Summer in the city, Sunny afternoon) are among the obvious summer songs here, along with I get around, California dreaming, Sunny and the closing title track. The other songs here are, for the most part, not summer songs as such, but they all sit comfortably on a summer album as they sound particularly good in the summer months. This particularly applies to Mr. Tambourine Man, Pretty woman, 1-2-3 and Keep on running, although the latter track might not apply if the weather is hot and humid, as it was on the day I posted this review. :-)If you don't own the still-available earlier album, this one will still sound great on its own. As a pair, they make an outstanding collection of sixties summer music.TracksCD 11 Summer In the City - The Lovin' Spoonful2 How Do You Do It? - Gerry and The Pacemakers3 It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones4 A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum5 I'm Into Something Good - Herman's Hermits6 Needles and Pins - The Searchers7 If You Gotta Go, Go Now - Manfred Mann8 I Only Want To Be With You - Dusty Springfield9 Keep On Running - The Spencer Davis Group10 You're No Good - The Swinging Blue Jeans11 Make It Easy On Yourself - Walker Brothers12 Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa - Gene Pitney13 I'm Alive - The Hollies14 I Got You Babe - Sonny and Cher15 Baby, Now That I've Found You - The Foundations16 Tobacco Road - Nashville Teens17 My Boy Lollipop - Millie18 Lightnin' Strikes - Lou Christie19 Have I the Right - The Honeycombs20 If You Gotta Make a Fool of Somebody - Freddie and The Dreamers21 As Tears Go By - Marianne Faithfull22 Concrete and Clay - Unit 4 + 223 You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - The Righteous Brothers24 He's In Town - The Rockin' Berries25 Hang On Sloopy - The McCoys26 The Pied Piper - Crispian St. PetersCD 21 Sunny Afternoon - The Kinks2 I Can't Explain - The Who3 I Get Around (Remastered) - The Beach Boys4 California Dreamin' (Single Version) - The Mamas and The Papas5 Mr. Tambourine Man - The Byrds6 Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison7 Catch the Wind (Single Version) - Donovan8 All Or Nothing - Small Faces9 Bad To Me - Billy J Kramer10 Shout - Lulu11 Paper Sun (Remastered) - Traffic12 1-2-3 - Len Barry13 (There's) Always Something There To Remind Me - Sandie Shaw14 I Can't Control Myself - The Troggs15 I Think of You - The Merseybeats16 Silence Is Golden - The Tremeloes17 Sorrow - The Merseys18 Juliet - The Four Pennies19 Sunny - Bobby Hebb20 Do You Love Me? - Brian Poole and The Tremeloes21 Out of Time - Chris Farlowe22 Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) [Single Version] - Cher23 For Your Love - The Yardbirds24 Tell Me When - The Applejacks25 Funny How Love Can Be - The Ivy League26 The Crying Game - Dave Berry27 Dreamboats and Miniskirts - The Miniskirts

'THE 'DREAMBOATS' COLLECTION JUST KEEPS ROLLIN' ALONG'
For me 'Dreamboats' collection remains a highly collectable music series. In some of the earlier issues many noticed the inclusion of one or two repeatedtracks from earlier issues on-board, the songs chose were usually classic-soundsand for me fitted in with a different play-list, remaining a great listen.Happily the 'Dreamboats' series appears to have widened the period of selectionsome, opening up many possibilities for future releases, I believe as with this issuewe'll always have an occasional inclusion we've seen before, however overall'Dreamboats and Miniskirts' has moved a little deeper into the Sixties than the'Petticoats' which also included tracks from the late Fifties.Obviously copyright issues and possibly cost prevents the inclusion of many artistsand songs many would like to see included, however what we have on-board thisrelease is many favourite songs from the golden sixties.Which makes this a must for collector's of pop-sounds of the era covered, true manycollectors again will have most if not all the songs on-board either by compilationor actual specific artists CD's and of course many like myself will own much of thecontent on treasured Vinyl, however, again, for me it's all about hearing manyfavourite memories in different song and play order selection.On-board there is certainly a play-list to cherish...I'll again highlight some of the great sounds to enjoy on this 2-CD compilation todemonstrate the quality of what's on offer........on disc one........'Procol Harum' --'A Whiter Shade of Pale'........'The Searchers' --'Needles and Pins'........'The SpencerDavies Group' --'Keep on Running'........'The Walker Brothers' --'Make it Easy onYourself'........'The Hollies' --'I'm Alive'........'The Nashville Teens' --'Tobacco Road'...'The Rocking Berries' --'He's In Town' ( This, like many was indeed a-one-hit-wonder)and........'Marianne Faithful' --'As Tears Go By' ..........just one or two of the manyterrific memories to be found on disc one........on disc two........'The Beach Boys' --'I Get Around'........'The Byrds' --'Mr Tambourine Man' ( A 'Bob Dylan' classic of course)'The Small Faces' --'All or Nothing'........'Sandie Shaw' --(There's) Always SomethingThere To Remind Me'........'The Merseybeats' --'I Think Of You'........'The Four Pennies'--'Juliet'........'Brian Poole and the Tremeloes'.........'Cher' --'Bang Bang(My Baby ShotMe Down).........again just a hint of the superb songs to enjoy on disc two................I have simply plucked half a dozen or so from each disc to give you an indication ofthe content, those I have not listed have as much quality to those I have, it's truly agreat selection of sixties sounds.I reckon this is a great selection harboured upon this 2-CD compilation, well worthchecking out I'd say, it's full of favourite songs.Because 'Dreamboats and(Petticoats)Miniskirts' have obviously widened the selection years,I'm sure we'll have many more releases to come.

One Of The Best "Dreamboats" Albums
I bought this CD for my mum, because she loves this kind of music and she has all of the other Dreamboats albums. After listening to it, mum thought it was superb and I agreed with her. There is not a single "filler" track on this album and we knew all of the songs. We did notice, though, that this album seemed to be skewed more towards the 1960s music, whereas all of the previous Dreamboats albums tended to feature predominantly 1950s songs. We still thought that it was excellent, though and one of the very best albums in this collection so far. I have no hesitation in giving this album the maximum five stars, without any complaints at all. A superb album and we hope that there are many more to come in this vein. I recommend it to other fans of this series, or anyone who enjoys music of this era. As close to the perfect 1960s album as it is possible to get.
