"The Runaway Pancake" has had an impact on the children in my Kindergarten (five-year old) class for a few years now. When I play the cd, they scream and laugh and have a ball. When I read the story, they recite every word, laugh and clap along. I have them draw pictures of their favorite parts and, believe me, they do a bang-up job. Mr. Lithgow is an amazing talent with a Kindergartener's soul. He relates to these children and their fantasies with a charisma one seldom sees. I have enjoyed him for years on television and in the movies, but seeing him one evening reading this story and singing parts of it, well, he simply enchanted me and I ran out and got the book and cd without hesitation. John Lithgow is simply wonderful and the story of the runaway pancake is exceptional in all areas. I truly love it!

I had this book and CD in a classroom I taught a few years ago. My current classroom children absolutely love storytime, and books on CD, so I bought this book to share with them. They were so engaged with it the first time I introduced it. They talked about it the rest of the afternoon. The second time I brought it out, the children were already singing along with it!!!! It is a wonderful tool for literacy, the pictures are engaging, and the singing and music is engaging as well. There is a lot of repetition and rhyming in this story. John Lithgow narrating is hilarious!

This is such an engaging story full of opportunities for children to learn sequencing and expand their vocabulary. The song and silly illustrations keep kids glued to the page. My almost 4 year old has the whole story memorised after just a few weeks. What a great way to expand a child's interest in literacy.

My daughter's preschool teacher had been playing this CD for the students. My daughter loves it! To help ease the separation from her preschool class, I bought this for her. We listen to it in the car and both my five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter love to sing along with it. John Lithgow does an amazing job narrating the story. His music is engaging and the expression in his voice is remarkable. It's a very cute remake of The Gingerbread Man. Excellent illustrations, excellent mix of vocabulary, excellent recording... We love it here!

My daughter and husband wanted this since they read it from our school library.. And every time she tried to get it they wouldn't have it.. So when school was over I decided to get this for them as a kindergarten graduation gift..Major hit..!!Its a very funny book and love the way it is written. I tried to get another one but they didn't have it in stock.. Love John's books he is funny and a great actor and a lover of kids..

This is one of my daughter's favorite books growing up. Love books narrated by John Lithgow. We all love listening to the CD and as we turn the pages. I repurchased twice this year for a baby shower gift and a Christmas gift.
