An excellent ice shaver from Japan
The media could not be loaded. It’s been about two years since I bought this ice shaver, and it’s been great. It’s definitely cute, and it works really well for us. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, reliable ice shaver. Made in Japan, it shaves ice perfectly, and the texture is delicious. It’s also a fun way to enjoy ice—especially the sound it makes while shaving. Plus, it’s manual, which is my favorite part—no electricity required!

A Fine Manual Ice Shaver That Trades Utility For Aesthetics
Bought this because the listing was inexpensive (especially compared to machines), it's cute, and it's my first ice shaving machine so I was willing to get something imperfect. With those expectations, I'm pretty satisfied. It does the job pretty well. You get good, fluffy shaved ice easily and quickly. I personally did not find it needed a lot of effort to use most of the time. And, of course, the novelty design genuinely brightens up the kitchen! Even before I used it, I was happy to have bought it.But there are some drawbacks. Maybe this is normal for ice machines, but the press seems to be just short enough that it can't grip the last 1/2 centimeter of ice to push it into the blade. Even though it's just ice, it feels like a waste. It also makes ice cubes really annoying to use.The machine isn't heavy enough on the bottom to stay put with even light grinding, and it shook so much while grinding ice cubes that the beak fell off. You have to exert more effort in holding it still than in grinding it, but its shape is inconvenient to hold down firmly enough from any angle. All in all, I really don't recommend using ice cubes even though the packaging says you can. A flat-bottomed disc of ice from the included ice cup is definitely the best option. Only one cup is included but even filling it halfway will give you 2-4 servings. It's approximately 8.5cm in diameter to make a disc that is slightly smaller than the machine holds. The machine can hold a disc up to approximately 10cm in diameter, so I believe cups sold for other machines (like the Kakigori company's) should make compatible ice but I can't confirm.Cleaning it is not especially convenient, but it's not difficult and ice shaving is not a messy process. Plus, it feels sturdy enough to put up with how much it shakes and it doesn't really have internal parts to break.Make sure you have a small enough bowl to fit into it due to its design. Again, a 10cm wide bowl no more than 10cm high should work. You could even use the included ice cup if you really wanted to.Overall, shaved ice is simple and I'm happy enough with this machine. But if you're serious about your shaved ice, there's other options.

So cute
It feels pretty sturdy. And quick tip, the kitchen aid ice shaver cups fit this product! So just order a pack of those and you have more ice pucks to make more than one serving!

Fine shaved ice
Shaves ice well. Kind of pricey but we tried cheaper versions and ice was chunky. We wanted a manual shaved ice maker.

So cute!
So cute!!! Works great! It's what I'm looking for. The super cute shave ice manual machine. Easy to use. The ice comes out like very soft snow powder, add some condense milk and a little syrup flavour. So yummy!

Fun to use
Work very well! I do think the blade as dulled some and I wish there was a way to sharpen it but my entire family did love it. The penguin is also super cute.
