Nice and cheap barcode scanner
So i needed this because my brand new iphone 14 can't see up close in the Amazon seller app or on ebay and all of my barcodes were fuzzy. This little thing was only a few dollars, so i thought i'd give it a try. It works quite well -- the provided manual gives you EVERYTHING you need to make this scanner work like you need it to. You can set it to do carriage returns, power off times, buzz vs beep or both. It's very well laid out and easy to reprogram this scanner to do exactly what you need. The scanner itself is great - just have to be directly in front of the barcode, but it's got a good strong laser and is able to penerate clear bags, some glass etc. I'm enjoying the heck out of it as am able to scan faster than i was before.

Very good scanner
My initial review, I'll add more 6 months from now;Overall *very* good scanner. Does it scan from longer distances, no 2 to 16 inches it works greatdo the batteries last a week. No if you're doing non stop scanning you'll need to recharge after about 4-5 hours. But it works great. Think of the size of the thing. Not enough room to put huge batteries in it. It reads all barcodes and QR codes and reads them quickly it also reads 'on screen'. And it actually reads better than my Zebra DS22's. and has 4 ways to connect! onboard bluetooth, dongle bluetooth, 2.4 wireless, corded. Pretty impressive for something so small. After I've used for some time I'll update here. But for now, it's a great product. Especially if you're not a heavy scanner.

Can't scan, won't scan, but it can be used as a flashlight instead.
Really liked the form factor for this scanner, but it has three major flaws. One: it is bright. Could literally hold the button and this would just be a regular flashlight with a little optical/laser reader of some sort. Could probably be used as some sort of self-defense device if the reader was laser based along with the flashlight. Two: turning off the light means it can't read ANY barcodes. There's a way to turn off the light by finding the online manual for an older revision of this device. However, doing so means losing the scanning ability in dimmer rooms or places with a little less light. I'm not talking about a pitch black room, but if there's any chance of being on the wrong side of the room where something is partially casting a shadow; good luck scanning anything in this mode.Three: just refuses to scan even with the flashlight mode is turned on. I think each attempt took maybe 3-7 times just to get a scan. I find that I have to hold the scanner maybe 5-8 inches away from a barcode before it scans (can't be too close) and sometimes I have to hold down the button until it reads something (most times it won't). However, I needed this device to scan every time on good barcodes no matter how close I got to the barcode. The only saving graces for this scanner was that it was very small, it didn't need much setup, and would sometime scan digital barcodes on monitors/phone screens (detection was slightly better than on physical barcodes, but still needed distance). I just wished it worked better than it did.

Some parts great, some parts not, wired mode does not work
I've been communicating with tech support at Tera and they have been somewhat responsive and helpful, but I'm still having issues.Let me begin by saying that when this thing works, it is great. A nice size, not too small to handle easily or too big to put in my pocket. It has both audio and tactile feedback (each can be turned off separately) when it successfully scans a bar code, which is a nice feature. The biggest problem is that it does not work properly in wired mode, with a USB cable plugged into the scanner and the computer. In all modes it operates like a computer keyboard as far as the computer is concerned. In wired mode, however, it holds the shift key down too long, the result being that if it scans a character that needs the shift key and the next character does not need the shift key, the next character gets the shift key applied anyway. So if you scan "Hello" you get "HEllo". This is critical if you scan a QR code with a link, which starts "https://", but in wired mode scans as "https:?/". The colon (:) character is semi-colon (;) plus shift key (look at your keyboard). The slash (/) does not need the shift key, but if you hold down shift and press the slash key, you get a question mark (?).So you cannot use this scanner in wired mode for codes that include shifted characters. Now a lot of codes do not, for example UPC codes are all numbers, so you can use it for that. But not QR codes that contain URLs.The next issue is that most of the bar code types that can be scanned can be turned on or off, which itself is fine, but when they are all on, scanning can take a long time. It can take several seconds for it to figure out which kind of bar code you are scanning (although it seems to remember what you scanned last time, so if you scan the same type again, it's not so slow). That is why you can turn them off. They recommend turning off all the ones you do not need, which is fine if you only need to scan 1 or 2 types of codes. Some kinds of codes are easier to scan than others. Despite repeated trying, I have never been able to get this to scan Maxi code (mainly used by UPS) or Code 32 (mainly used in Italian pharmaceuticals). I have great difficulty getting it to scan MSI or Plessey code. If all the scan types are enabled, the various kinds of 2 of 5 can be very difficult for the scanner to tell apart and recognize. On the plus side, it is very good at reading QR code and Data Matrix code. Aztec code depends on the size, apparently the samples I was trying were too big.Although this does recognize 2D codes, unlike any of the other scanners I've seen at this size, it does not claim to, and does not, read the 2D parts of composite 1D/2D codes like GS1 Composite or EAN-13 Composite. It does, however, read the 1D part of those codes.
