Millions of berries!
Got a double trunk tree a couple of years ago, and planted it in my front yard. It was a little 2 inch tree and didn’t grow at all for about 6 months, and then suddenly took off! It’s about 15-20 feet high now, larger than I expected, and THERE ARE SO MANY BERRIES! the tree feeds my family, the local birds, all the neighborhood families, and we have enough for our freezer. There are so many berries that the branches bow down like a weeping willow this time of year! Wonderful tree, very messy though. I planted it near a sidewalk, please don’t make my mistake. The sidewalk turns blue with berry juice each spring from the falling berries. It is a great tree, I love it, my nieces and nephews love it, and the neighborhood kids always run over with bowls to fill and bring home. It’s so much fun and has brought our neighborhood together!

dead
We will have to give this some time...not a twig more like a sprout. Very delicate. Afraid to transplant because it is going through shipping stress. So I dont know if it even has roots. It is not showing signs of recovery from shipping and the method used to harvest it...so it will stay in the small pot until it perks up or dies. It is in Florida with perfect weather 70-80s....... keeping it out of mid day sun and taking it in tonight because of the rain...rain would pummel it. Not what you would call a hardy plant. As an update it has about 100% died. A week after delivery its almost gone......will give it a few more days....added some root tone and am keeping it damp and out of the sun, maybe it will spring to life? Not worth the money. It died I would consider spending more money rather than purchasing a hastily cut small branch from this company, amazing on how much money they must make on this scam.

My Great-Grandfather's Advice
When I was a boy, my Great-Grandfather told me that everyone makes mistakes. He said that one of the things that separates those with character from the rest was what they did when they recognized their mistakes. The best people and companies focus on doing things right the first time and correcting the occassional, inevitable mistakes promptly. The worst are sloppy, ignore their mistakes and fail to correct them.Evidence suggests that my Great-Grandfather would approve of Hirt's Gardens. Our first Mulberry order was puny, sickly and on death's door when it arrived. Frankly, it was a mistake that never should have been shipped. When we contacted Hirt's with our complaint and pictures of the plant, they promptly acknowledged their mistake and refunded our money. However, we still wanted a Mulberry plant so we ordered again. The second time, Hirt's got it right. They promptly sent us a healthy and robust looking plant that was over 9" tall upon arrival. We're hopeful that we'll be able to grow this plant to maturity and will eventually be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor.Had Hirt's gotten it right the first time and/or enclosed value-added instructions about how to care for and grow the Mulberry (as requested) and, perhaps, basic information about the plant (like how much sun they need, how long it will take before the plant grows fruit, etc.) we'd have rated this as a five star product performance. Unfortunately, Hirt's didn't do either, so 4 Stars is the best we could honestly do. (After all, they're in the expert gardening business, we're not.)8/6/13: We've added a star because: (1) The 2nd tree has really thrived. (2) We think that the comments on our initial review contain pearls of wisdom. (3) The customer service we received would have pleased my Great Grandfather. (4) Hirt's has beefed up their product description with helpful information. Hopefully they will add further information as this product gains more traction in the marketplace.

Very happy with my purchase, arrived in good shape, and growing without a problem
To make a long story short, my family moved around a lot when I was a kid, and one of the things that stands out clearest in my memory is of a huge mulberry tree that overlooked one of our backyards and driveway when I was maybe eight or nine, I don't really remember. But what I do remember is how AMAZING the mulberries tasted when they ripened. Perfectly sweet, with just a hint of tartness in the beginning, and a delicious aftertaste. Since that house, I've never come across another Mulberry tree, much to my disappointment. When it occurred to me that I could grow my own, I was further disappointed to find that most of the trees for sale were not only too big to fit inside my house (I want something that I can keep in a container, because to be frank, I've moved too many times to trust a landlord NOT to suddenly decide they want to sell the house), but that they also cost upwards of thirty dollars, an amount that I can't really expend on something that might not even work. So, when I found this offer, I was immediately excited by the idea. I can't afford to put in a lot of money, but one thing I DO have in abundance is time and patience.I ordered this plant (Which I have nicknamed 'Nikolai') back in December. It arrived sooner than I expected (only three days after I placed my order), and had my friend not mistaken the package for one of hers, I probably wouldn't have noticed it, and my poor Nikolai would have died. So, the only complaint about the packaging was that it didn't specify that there was a plant inside, and should be opened immediately. But other than that, it arrived in perfect condition, as near as I can tell, carefully wrapped and secured in a little square plastic pot. It was the first plant I've ever ordered online, so I wasn't sure what to expect upon opening its box, but though the stem was curled over a bit on itself (probably something to do with its size rather than how it was packaged) all of the leaves were green, and after a few days of being in a bigger pot and in front of a sunny window, Nikolai started straightening upwards, and grew without a problem. Some of the leaves were missing a few chunks, as though they'd been eaten by insects, but most of those have been shed and replaced by healthier ones by now. It's been two months since I received my plant, and Nikolai has now doubled in height, with plenty of healthy leaves and the start of new ones on the way.As soon as the weather gets warm and stays warm, I'm going to start slowly moving it outside during the daytime, and I'll be sure to update with its progress in another few months, as well as adding pictures.I'm going to be keeping track of Nikolai's growth, taking a few pictures at least every month, and I'll post them here whenever I get the chance, as well as posting about when it starts to produce berries.Summary: Very happy with my purchase!
