A Favorite Brand
Very good quality artist grade watercolor.. good pigment. Not inexpensive but very good quality worth the price.

Cheaper and professional watercolor paints than the prevailing most popular brand.
Cost is much cheaper, and they are very pigmented, bendable, and I have become a fan of Holbein for a few months now. The colors are outstanding!

Paynes Grey is so gorgeous
I've yet to meet a Paynes Grey I don't love and this is no exception. Holbein is a fantastic and consistent brand that plays well with others. Always a great price (check out their opera rose.it's on sale for $8 while supplies last..just saying).

Love this paint!
This is the first time I have tried this brand and I am very pleased. Rewets beautifully and moves just how I like on the paper. Dries nicely in my palette. The color is just what I expected.

Good Value for the Money
Payne's grey is a staple in my palette and Holbein offers a good value for quantity in this shade of watercolor paint!

the only paynes grey watercolor I use
I am an illustrator and use Payne's grey as a universal dark wash for shadows. It allows for the visual impact of shadows without a muddying of the color that you would experience when using black (which IMO should never be used when watercoloring. Things are rarely visually black, if ever). Holbein watercolors are the best, and they are expensive. However, I've been using many of the same tubes for the past 3-4 years, and I use them all the time. Painting requires very little, only a dot, so a little goes a very very long way. The only tubes that get replaced with any regularity (once a year, maybe) are my burnt sienna and paynes grey. All other colors last a very long time. The texture of the paint is imperceptible. It is essentially pure pigment ground so fine that you will not notice a graininess or an opaque quality that you get with lesser quality supplies. Many watercolors are chalky due to white pigment being added. Holbein colors are very translucent and suitable for gossamer-light washes. This allows you to use the paper as white.Love this brand <3

Love it
I needed this fast for a class and my local store doesn't carry Holbein watercolour. It's one of my all-time favourite colours. So easy to work with, so versatile. I love it!
