Raiders from the Sea (Viking Quest Series) (Volume 1) Paperback – August 1, 2003

This has been a great book to read out loud with my kids 12 and 17, it is action packed, suspenseful, intelligent, and filled with great discussion points on matters of faith and life that translate to the here and now as well. I love how it builds up the sibling relationships, we finished this book in 2 days (could hardly put it down) and are now about to finish the 2nd book in the series, my son even put down the video game controller to hear this read! We have our sights set on the third book already. I love the meticulous care the author has put into the historical accuracy, names of towns/landmarks, and dates in the book, somehow it is much more interesting knowing these stories stemmed from real places. We are enjoying the adventure and the time together reading!!

I am home schooling my kids and this series of books are wonderful. Kids and I look forward to reading this book each day. I bought the entire series and would recommend them to anyone. I am an adult and I am enjoying these books too. Wonderful historical fiction that has been well researched. Really recommend.

Good memories in these books.

Pretty solid read even as an adult. A good story. A little repetitive and took awhile to just get where they are in the story. But it’s a kids book so overall good. Will keep reading the series.

We read this with our medieval unit for homeschool. I enjoyed this book just as much as my kids did. It’s a page Turner and very well written. It teaches history about Vikings and also the Irish people. It was a cliff hanger at the end so we ordered the next book already! Definitely suggest it!

This was a suggested read-aloud in our history curriculum and the girls (and I) enjoyed it very much! Written with a family audience in mind and besides the historical element, is full of beautiful messages of faith, courage, forgiveness, and God's hand in our lives. The storyline makes you want to keep reading, and you won't want to end at the first book!

I read this aloud for the kids (7,8, & 10) and they were enthralled...so was I. When we came to the last third of the book we used up our Saturday morning finishing it (instead of a chapter a day as we had been). Inspiring, hopeful, full of adventure, and simply well written. We can't wait to read the rest of the series!

I am reading this book with my the girls ages 10, 8, and 5. We are most the way through it and can't wait to read the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend reading this book.
