Buy The Complete Cartoons of the "New Yorker" First Edition by Mankoff, Robert (ISBN: 9781579123222) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Great for a gift - I bought it as a gift for my father. He really enjoyed the book. He actually made a photocopy of one of them and put it in his office. Its divided by decades. The style of the cartoons as well as the topics change and resonate with the times they were drawn in. The books is quite big and heavy. It might be a problem for some. On the other hand it looks really nice on the shelf, as is. What I don't like is the quality of some of the cartoons. It seems as if someone did a low-quality scan of the originals and placed them in the book. You can see pixels on some of the reproductions. I'm not sure why someone did allow it to look like that. This applies to a minority of the images so don't be afraid - most of the book looks nice. Review: Splendid! - This book is an absolute treasure! It's quite heavy and it's a great idea for a gift and also looks great in a library. I definitely recommend this to everyone who likes witty cartoons!

Wonderful!
Wonderful book, a delight. It's huge - we weren't expecting that - but we keep it on our porch table and turn a few pages every now and then. A real joy.

Good for Dipping Into
If you like cartoons, then you just can't get enough of them, right? Well, not so much. I must admit that I find the principle of diminishing returns kicks in very quickly with a volume such as this. Browse it for more than five minutes and you get exhausted. Having said that, it's a fine book. The earlier cartoons are not so great, and they really pick up around the middle of the twentieth century. It's interesting to see when certain themes, such as the internet, start to crop up. "Clever" and avant-garde cartoons are much worse than formulaic ones-- give me a desert island with a single palm tree and a guy in tattered shorts and a long beard! Some pages showcase the work of particular cartoonists. This may be of interest to connoisseurs, though it wasn't to me. All in all, a good book for putting on the shelf and browsing through for a few minutes at a time.

Hugely enjoyable - literally
Purchased for my husband, who asked for this book particularly as a birthday present, and greatly enjoys reading it. The book is quite a heavy tome and quite large; great for a coffee table.

Art and humour from this heavy weight publication.
SUPERB collection. Slight problem opening the cd enclosed in the cover but eventually did it although it is tedious finding the copies.
