Educational
Not only does this book have good recipes it is also educational. Being a person who deals with an under active thyroid I appreciate the information given that otherwise wouldn't receive from a physician. Thank you.

It's a good start.
I have hypothyroidism and have been trying to lose weight. This book helped me understand that there are some foods that should not be eaten if you have a thyroid disorder. I'm not talking about the cheese and bread....I'm talking about actual foods that I would have not even thought about. The way this book is set up is that it breaks it down for hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. For example...I should stay away from foods such as watermelon, grapes, celery...and so on. A person who has hyperthyroidism can eat these foods. The book is sectioned off into two parts...one for hypo and one for hyper. So..the bottom line is..it was a great tool for me to be able to use guidelines while grocery shopping and planning meals. I have started feeling like I have more energy and and I am losing weight now...slowly...but still losing. I would recommend this book for anyone with a thyroid disorder who is struggling with weight issues.

Great start, but needs major editing
This book is a great introduction to planning meals to help improve my thyroid condition. I don't like to cook, and these recipes are mostly simple and approachable, so I appreciated that. It definitely gave me some ideas and helped me figure out the kind of foods I want to target. The book's major flaw is a terrible lapse in editing. Some ingredient lists are not complete, and there are a few recipes where the ingredients and recipe don't match up at all. It seems like something went wrong during copy/pasting, and the wrong ingredients were pasted into the wrong recipe. A more advanced cook could probably still read the recipes and approximate the quantities; however, I'm not an advanced cook, and really do need to know the ideal proportions. This isn't an issue in all of the recipes, so it is still a good resource, but I do find that I don't use this book very often as a result.

Where's the nutritional info?
I bought this book, among others, to learn more about my health condition--hypothyriodsim. I thought this would be a great cookbook for me, but the main problem I had was that it didn't include the nutritional information for the recepies! What a crock! I would like to know how many calories/fat/carbs I'm ingesting since this is a *diet* book. Don't waste your money on this!

Simple, not very informative, misleading.
The recipes in this book are VERY EASY and mainstream- i.e., french toast, scrambled eggs, sandwiches, smoothies...It does briefly address certain foods that are good for those w/ hypo or hyperthyroidism, but it's misleading...it suggests that those with hypothyroid eat up on iodine-rich foods, but that could be DANGEROUS for certain types of thyroid conditions, such as HASHIMOTOS!Also, I've read a few studies suggesting that most people with Thyroid disorders suffer from a gluten intolerance (even when it's not detected by standard tests) and that gluten wreaks havoc on the thyroid and should be avoided. I was hoping this book would offer gluten-free recipes, but no- just about every recipe has gluten.Although it's not a cook-book, I suggest you spend your thyroid-inquiring dollars on "Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms? When My Lab Tests are Normal" by Dr. Kharrazian for some great easy to follow information about how to maintain thyroid health. He also gives lots of tips on types of foods to eat and avoid as well as supplements. GOOD LUCK!

This book is for those who already know all the ...
This book is for those who already know all the details of thyroid disease. (which I appreciate) The recipes seem simple and are explained well. (I have not had opportunity to actually make one of the meals). The only complaint I have, there is no calorie count for those who may be watching weight by calories. I have suggested this book to a relative and will do so again to those who are just looking for recipes.
