I did not wear the spats for Halloween. It is cold in my apartment near the floor and the spats were worn to keep my ankles warm as I wrote. Perfect.The spats use a velcro closure. the elastic for under the foot is in a dumb place. But they work anyway for me.The spats are the last layer of protection worn after sweatpants worn over athletic socks with knee-high leggings on top. All of that fabric fills out the area of the spats well. What might be big for somebody else wearing fewer layers of stockings was great for me. I even wore this protective gear to the bank.

We ended up not using these, they are super cheap looking, and the elastic band is way to long. I would have had to cut and sew them to make them functional, but I just didn't have the time. If you really need spats, spend a little more and get the quality ones. I just didn't want to spend too much for a one-night costume.

This item looked exactly as depicted and it worked excellent after a minor adjustment. When ordering the spats, I didn't see it listed anywhere that these were for men so I assumed gender neutral. However, the spats come with an elastic band that hooks under your shoes to keep it pulled down and in place. This works great with a man's wider shoe sole. However, for a female's narrower shoe heel or sole the elastic band is way too long. So after putting a few stiches in the elastic band to make it shorter(or it could have been pinned)it worked great and stayed in place all night!

Well you know that old adage: you get what you pay for. This was a one use only item as an additional item for a halloween costume (mafia gangster). It fell apart after about 3 hrs. use- and that wasjust walking around inside a house. The spats themselves are large and best suited for shoes maybe size 12 and up. They look cool and I got a few compliments, but i would spend a little bit moreto get better quality and durability.

These were better than expected. Nice heavy felt and Velcro. I had to trim them as they were for a child but it looks like it’ll do the job just fine. Worth it for the price if you don’t want to have to make your own.

....ok so I tried to think of a clever, old fashioned headline. Anyway, I haven't worn them yet (not Halloween yet) but I must say these are very well made, nice looking, & sturdy shoe covers that totally create the gangsta look that I'm goin for. And for the money, these are "the cat's meow". Ok quit rolling your eyes.

I purchased this item for "decade day" for my daughter. She chose the 30's era. They are no where realistic. I didn't even open the package. One look and I knew these wouldn't look right. They are made of felt and really don't look very convincing. They would be fine for a Halloween party or a costume that you know will end up getting dirty ie a parade or part of a costume on horseback. I wanted something a little higher quality. The bottom line is just personal choice and what you need them for.
