I love this display. In fact I get positive comments about it as people see it.Of course there is a mothball preservative in the case. At first this odor is fairly intense, however after a while the odor fades away. I have had mine for almost a year and the mothball odor has entirely dissipated months ago. These continue to be vibrant and I have no regrets in my purchase.

Beautiful! Yes, they do have an overwhelming smell of preservative. I could hardly stand to get them out of the bubble wrap but once I did, most of the smell went away immediately. Just dispose of the shipping materials in an outdoor garbage can and most of the smell will go with it. No regrets here.

There is a little box inside that you need to remove. Inside it is a mothball which is there to keep other insects away, but it smells awful. Pop up the plexiglass front up carefully and pull that little box in the corner out and throw it away. Then leave the frame and bugs in a garage or out on a porch for a day. If you are in a humid location or somewhere with a lot of bugs outside then keep an eye on it so other bugs dont get to it, but that smell should keep them at bay. If that smell persists I hear some vinegar diluted with water can help.

The bugs are beautiful and the frame is good quality.

These beetles were gorgeously set in a lovely frame. They arrived promptly and looked just as pictured.
