Go where no American has ever gone before. CNBC's Carl Quintanilla takes viewers behind the scenes of the world's most successful restaurant chain. In this original production, travel with CNBC cameras across the country -- and journey as far away as China -- for an insider's look at: What it takes to run a McDonald's restaurant -- and how lucrative it can be. How chefs in the McDonald's top-secret test kitchen are working to develop the next big menu items. Why the drive-thru lanes at McDonald's restaurants in China have caused unexpected problems. Get a look at how McDonald's is defending itself against critics who complain that its food is contributing to an epidemic of obesity in America. And peek behind McDonald's curtain to see for yourself how a quick-service hamburger stand grew into one of the most famous brands on the planet, serving 52 million people around the world each day. It's McDonald's ... Super-Sized.

Great for high school class
I teach high school cooking which includes careers. This is a great video to demonstrate how having a food background can be a great asset if one becomes a translator (18,000 stores worldwide); works in purchasing (2 million cups a day); logistics (how to get those cups to 18,000 stores); accounting; personnel; real estate ("we've done this 34,000 times"); a nutritionist; a travel agent (someone has to coordinate those execs getting there!) and so much more. Economic lessons ("Breakfast is 25% of our business"); marketing (flops such as the Arch Deluxe, McLean, Spaghetti); food inspector, marketing researcher and so much more. I bought the video 2-3 years ago for my class after it disappeared from youtube. A must have for almost any teacher.

A great learning experience!
The DVD"Big Mac:Inside The Macdonald's Empire" is a alternative to learn about Macdonald operation and its success formula. For those user, who dosen't like to read, this is best way to gain knowledge on Macdonald success but l would strongly recommand users to read books on Macdonald to further enhance some missing link inside the DVD. Overall, its a great DVD to watch and l would encourage a DVD-HD version to come out in the future.

Great for career/business formation
I purchased this to be used in a career electives class in middle school. The film may be a little biased, but it was light, informative, and displayed some of the areas consumers never even see or think about when buying and eating McDonald's food, such as the extensive product development and the history behind the fast food giant.Moves along briskly - quite entertaining.

Skips and doesn't work
The product was extremely expensive- $45 and now it skips and stops altogether. I had to stop playing it and find bits and pieces of it on the Internet. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED and IRRITATED!

Excellent documentary
A historical journey through the history of the company. An overview of the operation and business. Very interesting, more so as a shareholder.
