Great Way to Cool Smaller Areas!
I ordered this unit because I bought a historic home in the US but live overseas most of the year where electricity rates are extremely low. I was worried that my old house would cause me to have a very high utility bill, so I planned on only cooling the specific areas where I needed it while I was home for the summer. While I haven't received a bill yet, I can say that this unit works incredibly well. In fact, most people who have seen it have inquired about getting one as well. I leave my house central AC at about 75 everyday and keep this unit going in the area where I need it most - and it covers that are and most of the rooms connected to that area. The unit arrived quickly and without problem. When I opened the box, a caster has broken but it was s small thing - but the vendor was very gracious about replacing it immediately. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting an efficient and affordable portable AC.

LG clearly lacking quality control.
This unit is a refurb... for good reason. They obviously don't do any type of testing over 5 mins. Unit makes an odd gurgling sound and refuses to work after 10-20 mins. Power cycling and letting it settle for 10 mins gets it to start working again but obviously not functional this way. Disappointed is an understatement. Poor quality control.

400 square feet!!! No way
Bought at home depot. Our main air conditioner failed so I bought this as a temporary fix. Blows cold air and is easy to set up but there is no was it could handle 400-450 square feet as claimed. I put this in our beadroom 11x12 x8 (132 square feet) and it started blowing cold air right away but did not have the output power to even handle that one small room. The room started at 102 (Texas) and running 24/7 would not get cooler than 85 during the day or 77 at night. Much better than the 100+ alternative but probably not worth the 400 I paid for it. No way could it handle a 20x20 room. Water was not an issue for me because it is dry here.

Gets the job done
I got this portable air conditioner to cool the second floor of my one and a half story bungalow. I only have to run it for 2 or 3 hours in the evening to get the second floor bedroom nice and cool for sleeping. It is a little loud, but it is basically white noise and very easy for me to tune out. It is necessary to drain the water once every few days into a shallow pan (it's the only thing that will fit under the lower drain), but you don't need a way to let it drain while it is running. When the water tank gets full, it shuts itself off, so no mess to clean up. It is also very easy to fit the exhaust vent into the window when I want air conditioning and take it out when I want fresh air. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It does exactly what I wanted it to.

Awesome
Only had this for a few weeks, but it performs as advertised. As others say, it's a little loud, but ALL the higher output ones are. Must buy!Edit: OK, been about four months now. Still 5-STAR, BUT... I live in a high humidity zone. The hamster-bladder sized condensation tank can fill up in about an hour, activating the auto shutoff. Major PITA in the middle of the night. The fix is to run a hose from the top drain port into a bucket, or vent it outside. End of issue. My ONLY complaint about the unit is that the vent hose is too short. It is only about four feet. Not very "portable" IMHO if you can only move it a few feet from the window in which you vent it.FYI: 90% of all after market vent hose extensions suck. Be careful if you go this route. Many are paper thin, which allows too much heat transfer back into the room, and then easily tear because they are cheap. If only LG offered a longer hose option... HINT.

I got a real lemon.
It worked for about ten minutes, then died. Being the lazy and procrastinating jerk that I am, I never tried to return it within the allotted time. It sat in a closet for a year, then I had a technician come out to inspect it and he said it was the electronic board that needed replacing and that it would cost more than the unit was worth to replace. I ended up donating it to an electronic recycling place.Goodbye $300. Hello embarrassment and frustration.

real owner!
I have been using it for the last 3 days ever since taking it out of the box. Set up was easy. It is quiet for a large unit. I did some post purchase reviewing on the internet and did see that it sells for 200 dollars less at Walmart! Wahhhhh! Nevertheless it gets the best reviews on Amazon, and personally at 450 it is worth it if it handles a Florida summer. I have my unit setup in the bedroom and it works great and is quiet! 100% recommend! If you can find it at Walmart for 230 grab 2!
