Nice little lights for the money
Brilliant little lights work well and give off a good light

Brighter than you think.
I build this into a bedside reading light. 10 watts of LED light is very bright. A bit too much for what I needed, it’ll light the room. The light is clean, white, and of excellent quality. It’s had over a year of use and is reliable. The housing is reasonably strong, and it clips into its bracket well. Downside is… the LED’s will still glow ever so weakly when you switch the light off, but leave it attached to the mains. It’s a common side effect of cheaper LED strips.

Great amount of light, easy to mount. Overall great for the price
Provides a good amount of light, easy to install but doesn't provide much room to run the cables in to be connected but was doable. Perfect amount of light for my shed.

4 Star at best but not bad
I have read several reviews about these LED lights and even submitted a question prior to purchasing. I have had these 10W 1ft lights working in my loft for a few months now and feel I have enough insight to off an informed review. For further context, I did try out another brand but scored it much lower than these V-TAC battens. Light Output Excellent. They are very bright and relatively true to their spectrum. I got 8 of the 6400k daylight ones for the alcoves in my loft and I intend to fit some bigger ones for the centre section. They are really quite effective from a luminance point of view and the diffuser means they don't have that blinding glare of bare LED lights Do they overheat? I read a 2-star review that warned about the fire hazard potential of these LED lights but have to say I have not experienced any overheating even after prolonged use of many hours. It could be down to my loft having better air-flow than the cupboard use-case reported by the other reviewer. They were sort of warm to the touch but certainly not hot. I will check them again as we move into the summer months during which time the loft does get very warm. Do they buzz? Yes they do, and there is probably a good reason why. I have attached a picture of the innards of the light - the control and switching electronics responsible for "reducing" the incoming mains voltage to a low enough voltage for the LEDs to operate correctly without going up in smoke. This technology alone is capable of producing the buzzing noise if any part of that "switching" ends up in the audible spectrum of the human ear. The circled part in the first picture attached is a component (transformer) that has been glued down to the case. The location of the adhesive, the amounts and application were all variable ranging from none to impressive meaning it was left to the assembler to pretty much decide on this. This is bad practice from a quality control point of view. They should all be done the same as instructed by the designers. It is my suspicion that the buzzing comes from this component for one or more of the reasons above Easy to Fit/Install Yes and No. Yes, the mechanical fittings are reasonably easy to screw to your desired surface and the lights then clamp on and can be prised off if necessary. No, the cable supplied is short - way too short that there's precious little you can do with it as is. Your first course of action is almost inevitably to extend it somehow. I wondered why so short cable and this had me looking at the CE mark uneasily, but that is a very long discussion for another day on another forum. Electrical connection The length of the cable and its exit point were a huge problem for me and was the reason I ended up opening all of my LED lights to do a modification. I used a Dremel to drill and clean a cable size hole at the locations shown in the second illustration to get the cable out and into a connector. Moving the cable did in some instances cause the transformer to become detached from its adhesive - a little too easily if you ask me. This of course voids all warranties so I wouldn't recommend doing this unless this (warranty) is not high on your list of priorities A note to the manufacturer This is a good product with good brightness levels and seems to work well. It is reasonably priced for what it is but there are some improvements that can be made 1 - Consider offering an option where the cable comes out the near side of the unit. This will mean it breaches the 1ft overall length but provided this is made clear in the options list should be manageable 2 - Consider doing something about either the power supply switching frequency or the bonding of the inductive elements securely to the case or indeed both to eliminate the buzzing sound. Whilst not really an issue, it can be a little disconcerting for some. 3 - Get Manufacturing and QC involved in the production process to ensure there is consistency in product assembly. There is so much variability that it looks like these are not coming off a production line but rather, are kits sent out to home based assemblers 4 - Consider supplying a longer cable. Overall, a good LED batten light that seems to work well but it would be good to see an improved version from a manufacturing point of view at some point - soon.

Excellent in garage
I checked specs vs cost and opted for a pair of these instead of flouro-tubes. Well pleased that I did as the light quality is exceptional, the start up is pretty near instantaneous and the profiles are great. Note: the LED unit is sealed, you cannot buy replacement lamps because it IS a replacement lamp in itself, think IKEA but without the quality issues or start-up delay + excellent brightness vs power consumption. EDIT: daily use through the lockdowns and no issues. Just ordered three more to install in the attic and workshop.
