I’ve had at least three electronic stud finders and they just don’t work consistently. I’ve tried and tried using them many times with very mixed results. I saw my electrician using this magnet last week and I asked about it. He said he saw a seasoned sheet rock worker using it who said it was the best thing he ever used. That’s the kind of endorsement which gets my attention. This simple item just plain works. If there is a slight downside, it attracts other metal items in your toolbox.

I love this thing. It is so easy to use. The magnet is extremely strong and zeroes right in on the metal/nail behind the drywall. As you slide it along the wall, it will start to pull and hold fast to wear it found the metal.It is about an inch wide and 4 or 5 long, it fits easily into a tool belt or box.

Initially used a magnet like this on smooth walls and it worked like a charm. Simpler and more accurate than my electronic stud finger. The magnet would hold itself to the wall and there was no question you found yourself a stud.Now, I have walls with a little bit of raised texture and it doesn’t just glide across the wall directly to the stuff. It takes a bit more time to find a stud and magnet doesn’t have the instant results I was used to so it’s no longer quite the game changer it used to be, but still a great tool for the price and simplicity.

This product is fun to use. I typically don't bother with stud finders. Finger taps and measuring from outlets and switches work fine. But this tool finds the fastener and if you want to remove a piece of sheet rock that allows you to unscrew and the replace the same scrap. Also doing baseboards, it's quick and easy to find studs to fasten the top edge so the material is pressed back to the wall.

Use these alot well worth the money

It works but... honestly it needs a stronger magnet. The plastic cover and idea are great for finished walls and storage.

This works Great! Finds a nail quickly, no mistaken. Stays in place when it finds the nail.
