Better than expected. Should of bought sooner
I fitted this to an epiphone prophecy extura, was not sure if it would even work not being a gibson or a les paul style. Wasn't really sure how it worked as there's not a lot of info on them. This will fit on ANY guitar with a stop tail piece. Only the rear stop tail posts are what the bridge mounts to. They supply both metric and standard posts. The front posts get removed completely and left empty. The front rests directly on the guitar body and has adjustable posts to level the bridge and set the action. Small sticker pads are supplied for the posts to rest on to avoid contact with the hardware and body.Setting the action low was not an issue on mine since it's flat and not a carved top like a les paul. I still have 3/8" of room under the bridge with relatively low action. With a carved top the bar connected to the spring is the lowest part of the bridge and might contact the body with low action. The rear mounting holes are slotted to slide the bridge forward and backwards during set up to dial in the intonation perfectly.Set up was easy but took about and hour or so. The instructions were a little vague but gives you enough to understand the concept. If you've ever set up a regular floyd rose it's very similar but a lot simpler to dial in.The spring tension to balance the bridge is just 1 screw at the rear. There's a thumb screw that acts as a block to make it a dive only and to make string chances a breeze. There's a round head plastic screw that rides along the side of the bridge while operating the trem that engages into a notch so the bridge kinda locks in at zero to help with tuning stability. There's a small "click" when it disengages and engages as you use the trem. You can remove it and have a true full floating bridge. The tremolo bar swivel tension is set like the new style floyd rose with a plastic bushing and a set screw.I set up the bridge first and made sure everything worked how I wanted and was sure I liked how it felt and played before mounting the nut. It was surprisingly pretty solid tuning stability without the locking nut as I was reluctant to put small screw holes into the head stock. How it feels to play, it does feel like it moves your picking hand a little farther forward than the original tune o magic bridge. There's not sharp edges everything is rounded nicely. Dives just as far as a regular floyd, it does have a smaller range when pulling back. The bar feels great, feels like a regular floyd rose maybe a little lighter to push and pull. I would imagine tuning and string gauge would have an impact on how tight the bar feels as the spring tension would be increased with thicker strings or standard vs dropped tunings.Pro:Turn ANY tune o matic/ stop tail bridge into a full floating bridge.easier to adjust, easier string changes, easier tuning changes,Everything is accessible from the top of the guitar.Trem blocker for dive only,Return to zero screw option,Looks absolutely insaneCons:Looks absolutely insaneWeight (if that matters to you)Have to drill small holes in the head stock if you want double locking.Cant pull back as far as a regular floyd rose.Price.( for the price you could probably buy a decent used guitar with a floyd rose)

Floyd Rose FRX ROCKS!
I installed the Floyd Rose FRX tremolo unit on my black Gibson Les Paul Studio. It looks awesome (see pics). The unit is fairly easy to install if you read through the instructions and also watch Floyd Rose's installation video online. I had no problem after watching the video installation. Just remember to remove the centering screw (round head) if you don't think you'll use it. I saw no need for it and I thought it created a light clicking sound on the video. Some folks like a centering device on a Floyd Rose - I don't. This FRX has a great travel range (if not the full total range of a standard Floyd Rose, but close). It has plenty of spring tension for sensitivity to light taps on the bar. However, the unit's travel is easier than a standard Floyd. He says this is by design, as some have complained about how tight his standard Floyds are. I like the lighter spring tension. Easier to whammy on, but same effect and feel as a Original Floyd Rose (of which I own several). I am totally pleased with the unit and the packaging - full retail packaging with all required parts, hardware, allen wrenches and a full set of instructions. Fit and finish is excellent. I didn't even have to adjust the innotation! Better padding in the box than in the Original Floyd Rose packaging (no padding there). I am installing a black tusq nut from GraphTech to go with my locking tuners. I will not be installing the upper locking nut that is provided. My locking tuners and a slick nut will do just fine and still allow me to use the main tuners anytime. This thing is a winner. I have wanted a Floyd on my Les Paul for years. Now I have it quick easy and fully functional - no down side!

Relatively easy to install, works great! Love it!
I put this one a Firefly "LP" - I did run in to a couple of small obstacles, but over all it was pretty easy and it works great! Took me about two hours to get it installed and to get the guitar "set up" properly. It now works great and is very easy to maintain, change tunings, change strings, etc.

Superior product
I installed the FRX on a 76 reissue Gibson Explorer. Installation was a snap, but I used both the written instructions and the detailed video provided by Floyd Rose. My action is just as low as ever (and I like it very low), and I was stunned by not only the full depth of dives, but also the rock-solid tuning. I'll add that I had no problems preserving the surface of my guitar, it can be done. Just take your time, watch carefully and make sure you understand every step BEFORE you take it. This is a great product. BTW, I replaced an after-market tremolo from a different manufacturer, and the product wasn't in the same universe. I'm really happy with this purchase and the results I obtained.

So pissed off!
I put this on my ESP EC1000. Not impressed. Action is no where near as low as it was with factory bridge. Be prepared to spend most of the day or more adjusting intonation and setting the bridge. Whammy handle sticks up a lot higher than any other tremolo system handle I’ve ever owned. Fine tuners were so tight, I had to spray them with some oil and work them with a pair of pliers to get them freed up. Gonna play with it this week to see if I can get used to it, but I think it’s going back. I should have used the money I spent towards a new guitar. Don’t waste your money or time on this. I already sent it back. Now I have 2 holes in the headstock, where locking nut was. I asked seller to contact Floyd Rose and see if they would send me a locking nut so I can at least cover the holes. The seller said the wouldn’t. That’s what you get when a company loses their standards and does not do enough research and development into a product. So pissed off. Every time I play this guitar anymore I get mad with Floyd Rose. Such a lack of customer service.
