A Product that does what the ad claims it will do and then some...
It does what I needed it to do. I have a Panasonic VT60 Plasma TV which is strictly digital audio out, and I do not have a Audio/Video Receiver but I do have two sets of Powered Speakers which are both 2.1 and both are equipped with analog only inputs. I also purchased a Panasonic DMP BDT 460 Smart Blu-ray player which is also digital out only, so I connected the Agptek to the TV or the Blu-Ray Player using an HDMI cable out to the Agptek and then from this device I connected to my Klipsch 2.1 powered speakers. Granted it isn't the same as a dedicated 5.1 or 7.1 Audio system, but it is far and away beyond the sound of the TV's speaker system, which I have to admit is far better than almost any in set sound system I have heard. With this set up watching movies on Blu-ray or DVD is a much more full featured experience and until I invest in an upgraded sound system this is working very well for me. Thanks Agptek for a product that does exactly what you described it as being capable of doing!

Great for Chromecast and projectors
I originally bought this as a way to adapt a Chromecast to an old amp I use to drive my garage and outdoor speakers. (See also my review of theCompuLab Display Emulator.) Worked great. But once I got hooked on outdoor audio controlled by my smartphone, I decided I needed video as well. So I bought a projector with HDMI inputs. BUT... the projector had no outputs (e.g., to drive the amp). This gadget came to the rescue again. Now I put this adapter in the garage, run the Chromecast into the input side, run RCA audio out to the amp, and run a 50ft active HDMI cable out the back door to the projector when I use it in the back yard. The kids and neighbors love to hang out back there for outdoor movie nights supported by my outdoor speakers and all controlled remotely from my phone/tablet.

Good for an Xrocker
Been using this with a XRocker gaming chair since Christmas. It works great. Set up is a little complicated but I am not the most technologically inclined. With what I am using it with there are wires that come out of it every which way. My only wish was that the external power was smaller. The plug is huge! Other than that we have the Xrocker connected to the Xbox One and the TV just fine. No noticable drop in TV quality.

Video signal died after 4 months.
Update 7/1/16: Had the product for four months. Worked fine as per below. Then the video cut out. Audio still works but video does not. Unit is worthless to me now and I don't recommend this product (unless they send me a replacement, but warranty is only for 30 days). Beware.I have this item installed between my computer and television. I like it. My only issue is that the audio out signal seems a little low. I run the RCA jacks to an amplifier and stereo speakers, and I can't quite get it loud enough sometimes. The RCA out jacks on the computer's sound card are louder. Not sure what the issue is. Any thoughts? Otherwise, the HDMI signal, which I run to the television, is fine.

Really nice picture. The audio quality is great
I'm using this to plug an Amazon FireTV Stick into my TV that does not have an HDMI input. I plug the Stick into the input side, then I plug the output audio into a receiver. For the video side, I use an HDMI to DVI cable that plugs into the TV (oddly, the TV is new enough to have DVI, but old enough to not have HDMI). It produces a really, really nice picture. The audio quality is great. If you have a TV with no built-in speakers and a receiver, this is the item for you.UPDATE, 3/31/17: I've since been using it to connect a PS4 to the same TV via the same HDMI to DVI cable. The thing is still chugging along. I can't tell of any degredation in video or audio signal quality compared to using it on my PC monitor. Still recommend.

Solved my Roku 2 audio problem with home theater
This adapter is amazing and exactly what I needed. For some reason our older Sharp 42" 1080p TV wasn't passing along the audio signal from our Roku 2 to our home theater system, leaving us with brilliant HD video and no audio other than the crappy TV speakers. This splitter allows me to run the HDMI into our TV and the digital optical audio directly into the home theater system, circumventing the TV entirely. It worked perfectly without any setup and the audio is perfectly synced with the video, even though they're coming through two different cables. Nothing like this adapter exists at Walmart, at Radio Shack or at any other place I checked. Total lifesaver!
