Really nice and easy integration with Alexa app

The media could not be loaded.  I have to back-up my truck into the garage in order to be able to maneuver it along the wall so that my wife’s car can fit in the garage as well. Sometimes that’s really hard to do without light, so I used to get out, turn the garage lights on, and then get back in the truck and park it. So I decided to install a smart-switch so that I could control them from the car.Installation went fairly easily but I am getting pretty familiar with the process as this is the 3rd 3-way switch I install in the house. Basically there are five wires: 1) Neutral, 2) Ground, 3) Live (line), and 4) & 5) are the Travelers. Except that when I installed this switch, the other 3-way switch (non-smart) stopped working. I suspect that’s happening because the smart-switch works as a master/remote configuration and the old switch doesn’t have neutral wired to it. Usually when you buy a kit with two smart 3-way switches, they expect you to install one at each end of the lights, but I don’t see the point. I only need one of them to be smart with WiFi, the other can be a regular dumb switch. I’ll play around with it and figure it out, but it’s too bad that it wasn’t a “one and done” installation.Anyway, the switch is working beautifully for the garage and I’m installing the other one in my wife’s study/office. I usually have the Alexa app running on my phone in the car, and when I get home I can just tell it to turn on the garage lights. Speaking of apps… I didn’t notice that I was supposed to download a special app, so I just used the Smart Life app (which I already have on my phone), and it worked perfectly. I then opened the Alexa app and discovered new devices from there, and the switch showed up right away. One really nice added bonus is that the switch has an indicator LED that is on when the lights are on, and off when they’re off. Well, the kids sometimes leave lights on all over the place and the garage lights are often left on all night because we don’t notice them, but now the indicator light is hard to miss. So even on this side of the door, we can now tell if the garage lights are on or off.As I mentioned, I’ve installed a few of these around the house, but these are my new favorites. I like the LED status light, although a lighted switch in the dark would have been nice too, and I like the feel and responsiveness of the actual switch. In case you’re wondering, it doesn’t “switch” positions like the normal decorator switches, it’s just a push-contact switch… More like a push button really. You push on the bottom near the LED and it remains in the same position. I don’t think you’d be disappointed if you get these.

Does not work as expected for remote and voice control

It was advertised as being able to install at either switch as long there is neutral wiring. I tried both ways and it did not work as expected. When installed at the load side box, google complains that "power source is not yet supported." In this case, the switch can only be used manually. When installed where there is power source (live black wire), google can toggle the switch, but it doesn't necessarily match the status of the light because it depends on how the non-smart switch is toggled. If the light was turned on with the non-smart switch, the smart switch doesn't know the light is on, so you can't ask google to turn off. You actually have to ask google to turn on the smart switch to turn the light off. I've switched the travel wires in both cases with no success in getting the smart switch to operate as expected.

Not for the faint of heart, but works great when you figure it out.

The install was a pain in the rear, but the end product works. Why there aren't good instructions published on the Lumary website is beyond me, and the video (go search YouTube to find it) goes so fast, literally multiple steps in less than a second, it's hard to follow and annoying. A couple key take aways that will help during your install.... If you are replacing existing switches that control one light (or set of lights), all the red wires get capped. With wifi connected devices, there's no longer any need to "wire" connect the switches together, which is what the red wire on traditional switches does. Second, only one traditional (and wifi) switch actually connects to the light(s)... find that switch and the corresponding black wire first. Only one of the Lumary wifi switches will connect to that black wire with the brown wire; all other wifi switches will have the brown wire capped. Third (this is important!), once all your wifi switches are installed, only the ONE with the brown wire connected will actually turn the lights on and off, the others will not do anything (they only relay power). So do not use functioning of all switches at this point to determine if you have it right or not! The app is needed from here forward. With multiple wifi switches, since only one connects to the lights and controls the lights, you configure the behavior of all the switches to act as a group with the app. So you "group" the switches using the app, and when you turn one on, they all turn on, and the same with off... that's how the switch that actually turns the lights on and off does it's thing. My install took ten times longer than needed while I figured all this out, would have been so much easier just to have a basic explanation of how wifi switches function versus the hardwired method, and laid out with instructions instead of trial and error. Once you figure it out though, it's not difficult, ha.

Initial instructions wrong but support team created a new video. Now the switches work perfectly!

Switches work great now they are installed properly! Instructions with the kit were incorrect for installing. After a few failed attempts I reached out to the support team. Through email exchanges we troubleshot the issue. The support team took the time to create a new installation video that was thorough and easy to follow. Now the switches are working perfectly. I have many other Lumary switches already hooked up and they are all integrated through Alexa. I am happy with the product and will likely be purchasing more for some other switches in the future. Support team should be updating the product page with the installation video at some point. In the meantime, anyone else that needs help check out my attached photos for the correct wiring setup.
