These are high quality bolt snaps. I use these for rec dives in salt water. I attached one to my dsmb spool, and and another to my general purpose spool. The bolt snaps are large enough and provide enough clearance to securely snap through the holes in the side of the popular-style spools that I use. They also secure and detach well to my backplate. I rinse them in fresh water after use. There has been no sign of corrosion or weakening of the springs.

These work great with the chain links to help secure the gate

I've tried many different metal clips. The Shonan clip mechanism slides nice and smoothly. Therefore, these double ended clips are the best that I've found. I highly recommend them.
