Bussmann BP/MB-20 20 Amp Edison Base Plug Fuse Circuit Breaker, 125V

There are some of us who still have the old fuse boxes that have screw in fuses. When you overload a circuit, the fuse burns to protect the circuit so it doesn't burn, as opposed to modern breaker boxes that trip a breaker, which can be reset after it cools.A smart fella decided to combine the old fashioned Edison base fuses with a breaker. If the circuit is overloaded, it trips the breaker which can be reset by pushing the little button in the center after it cools.They are available in 15 and 20 amp. If you need 30 amp, for heavier load circuits, you will have to still use fuses.These breakers have made my old fuse box quite modern.

Got tired of hunting for screw in fuses. Circuit breaker works great. Cheaper than replacing a fuse box in an apartment. I can't justify that expense for a temporary living space.

Ordered 12 and they were individually packaged. They all were in good condition and worked.

I like many many people have some outdated wiring that uses screw In fuses and I don't have the money to replace them. Having the push to reset fuse makes my electric box like a normal fuse panel now.

My air conditioner, rated about 10 Amps, kept tripping a 20-Amp screw-in Edison base mini-breaker. Rather that getting out a ladder to reset it every time it blew, I plugged the conditioner into a 15-Amp outlet strip. Of course, that breaker tripped too. The wall receptacle was some distance away from the air conditioner. I thought maybe the long run of 14/3 cable was adding to the stress of the circuit when the compressor came on, so I replaced it with a 10/3 heavy-duty extension cord. That didn't help, so the next thing to try was to screw a regular fuse, with a higher rating, into the fusebox; a fuse with a link rated to melt at 25 Amps. (The air conditioner plug already had a built-in GFCI.) That worked. But it would not do — it was dangerously overrated. Then I noticed that Bussmann makes a mini-breaker with a built-in delay to accommodate the surge when a compressor motor starts. The 20-Amp mini-breaker I'd been using had been too quick to trip, and the 15-Amp breaker in the outlet strip was also too sensitive. Now the circuit works perfectly with a "slo-blo" 20-Amp mini-breaker. I've learned from hard experience a thing or two about motor circuits.

I have an old house with a bunch of these style fuses. PITA to replace or even detect if they are blown. This solves the problem, no need to unscrew and inspect, just push the button and done.
