NO, this is not the right flux for silversmithing. The joint made with this flux and soft solder is not strong enough for the joint to be worked after being made, and the joint melts at too low a temperature for silver to be properly annealed. Silver solder (In a fine metals context) is technically a form of brazing and so happens at a much higher temperature then this product is made for

Q: Why is this product not recommended for electrical or electronics applications .

Its very corosive and could damage insulation and electronics.

The Harris flux is great. I don’t know what someone else is selling. Unless I had a brand name.

Q: could you tell me what the shelf life is of this product>??

There should not be a problem with this stuff lasting 5 years. Trick is to pour a small amount into another container and use from there. This way you won't contaminate the main container.
