Very solid and well made aluminium framed pet doors!!!!
I needed some pet doors for the shelters that I was built for my barn cat and another stray cat that decided he was moving in. These doors are an excellent choice! They are VERY sturdy and fairly easy to install, just make sure you get the right size according to the size of your critter. Overall I think these are a great value for the quality and these should last for many years. I have had the larger version...about 12 inches in height I believe, installed in the barn for a couple of years now and it is holding up great, and with the supplied "block off door" I can lock Cooper in at night and keep the other critters out! Great product

High quality not to difficult for semi skilled install.
I installed and used the plastic version for many years but when I changed the door I decided to upgrade the doggie door. This is a high quality product and it was not too difficult for semi skilled person to “do it yourself “ install. I also bought a spare replacement door flap since they do wear out after a few years. My dog seems to really love the freedom of being able to use the door.

Works On RV Door!
I've had this dog door two years. Got it when I bought my travel trailer. I couldn't figure out how to get it to work with my non-removable RV screen door. The screen door is probably 1.5 inches away from the metal door when closed. I thought "I could do this". Tried. Nope. Then thought "I could do that". Tried. Nope. No solution. Finally occurred to me that I never actually use the screen door alone except for a few minutes here or there. If it's cool enough to use it without the AC, the humidity can still be too high. Oh well. I decided why not use it with the screen out? Bingo! So, I decided to take out the lower portion of screen of the door and put in my dog door without worrying about using it. Problem solved. I now have my dog door back which is less stress on me. I'm lucky to have a fairly large lot on which I'm permanently parked that I've fenced in (those doggie exercize pen panels work great). Now my three can come and go as they please without me breaking my back getting up and down to let them out 47 times a day. Old age is horrible! I've bought this same PetSafe brand for years. This time I went with the ex-large size for my 90-lb Labradoodle. They've always been sturdy with so many ins and outs over 16 hours a day, day in and day out. I've had to replace a few flaps along the way but I had a chewer who loved to hang his head out and chew the corners off the flap as he contemplated life. 🙄 It's super easy to install with a jig saw, drill, etc. The holes lined up perfectly and I think it's a great value—obviously since I've certainly bought enough of them. This might be my 5th. Photo #2 - Word of advice: Don't forget to close it or lock it if you leave home on a rainy day! These two had a fun day. Muddy pawprints EVERYWHERE! If they could have managed to put them on the ceiling, they would have. They must have gone in and out 50 times over a couple of hours. They are very happy with themselves. Good thing that couch was not cloth! Oh my.

Great Door, Awful Nylon Screws.
I gave this four stars because tge nylon screws are not great. I had this for a few months or so and bit by bit the nylon screws broke from simple in and out by my dog. She wasn't rushing the door or barreling through it. My fix, instead of paying 20+ dollars everything they break, was to buy 32x2 inch bolts with nuts to hold it into place. Works like a charm and I dont have to worry about them breaking and having the door hurt my dog when it falls off. I recommend the door, but not the nylon screws it comes.

Read before you install
Over various years, houses etc. we've had about 6 doors from Petsafe, and I did the install on them all. They are wonderful units, and they last really well. We use the small size, which is perfect for cats (ours run up to 16lbs). So this review only applies to the size small. Couple of call outs that you may find helpful: 1) This aluminum version is more rugged than the plastic version from the same manufacturer, and holds up better with time. It's worth paying the small premium for this one in my opinion (though the other is also great). Also the panel to close this if you want to keep the cats in is way better. With the other unit, the cats worked out how to pull off the cover. This has a metal channel for the closing panel, and a positive close bolt that snaps into place so it's a lot better. 2) The template that comes with the install instructions is sized EXACTLY to the size needed. If you cut a millimeter too small at any point along any of the lines, you'll have to re-cut. This is a miss because there is no harm in you cutting 1-2mm larger than the template and giving yourself a little wiggle room. So I am saying cut ever so slightly larger than the template. 3) The plastic bolts this comes with are crap. I have no idea why they use plastic and not metal bolts. I think the idea is to allow you to flex them during install. The heads simply break when you put any tightening force through them. What I always do is go to a hardware store and buy the same thread, and length bolts, but in stainless steel (or some other weatherproof metal. Recommend you do this BEFORE you attempt to install so that you don't have to go to the store halfway through. If you want to give your pets free access to the outdoors, these are great.
