4th summer using- amazing product!
With all of the negative reviews, I feel like I need to express how awesome this product is! I live in northern Montana where the summers are relatively short - but temps 2-3 months out of the year can soar into the 90s and occasionally low 100s. I considered buying an ac system a few years ago - but it seemed a little much considering it would only be used a couple of months per year. With the humidity being low in Montana, I started looking into the evap coolers- and fortunately gave one a try. We couldn’t be happier! By keeping the fan running with both water and ice in the tank our upstairs stays at a comfortable 73-75 degrees during the day (compared to the 80s when not used!). We’re now on our 4th summer using this new air cooler, and its still running strong! We have since gotten a 2nd/smaller ‘new air’ cooler for our bedroom which also works great. In fact, we’ve been so happy with our coolers that I have bought and given 3 of the AF-1000W away as wedding and birthday presents! So if you live in an area with low humidity - and relatively short, somewhat mild summers- I recommend giving this evap cooler a try!

No better than a regular fan
I see a lot of negative reviews for evaporative coolers from people who don't understand how they work and that they're not the same as an air conditioner. This is what I assumed was going on with this unit when I saw the mediocre star rating. But this "cooler" really does deserve a poor rating. I live in the perfect place for evaporative coolers- the Arizona desert- and I just wanted to cool a 10x15 shed to a tolerable temperature, not looking for 72 degrees by any means. I tried it out the day I got it. It was already 105° and 9% humidity so I was excited that this would make a difference. I set it up, verified the pump was working and the pad was getting wet, and left it going for about an hour. I came back and not only had the unit not cooled the space, but it had gone up a degree in that time. I tried again the next day starting in the morning when it was 85° and left it running all day (refilling the reservoir part way through). Made no difference. Standing in front of it, there was no discernible difference between the air coming out of the cooler and the air being blown by a regular fan and the room was no cooler than the outside. I am highly disappointed in this product.

the weather with you
I read a lot of reviews before deciding to buy this unit. I was baffled at first by the range of responses, from "this is a piece of junk," to "this kept me very cool." Only a few people mentioned where they were writing from and what the humidity was where they lived. This made me wonder if humidity was the issue for the naysayers, since (as I've learned), it's the combination of humidity and heat that's so crucial to a swamp cooler working or not. Where I live (a block from the beach in Long Beach, CA) there is so much coastal humidity that I didn't think it would help much, but I decided it was worth a try because this red New Air is by far the most attractive of all the AC's and swamp coolers out there. As I expected, it didn't work all that well, given the humidity, but it's just so darn cute that I decided to keep it. The temperature/humidity chart you'll find in this link (when you scroll down) is very helpful: http://www.air-n-water.com/evaporative-cooler-size.htm. The chart is accurate. If it's 95 degrees with 25% humidity, based on my experience I'd guess the New Air cooler would probably give you about 20 degrees of cool, per the chart. But if it's 85 out with 65% humidity, you'll only get about 6 degrees cooler. And then there's the size of your room: if it's too big for this unit, you may only get 2 or 3 degrees cooler, or zero.Because of the high humidity, so far I've averaged only 6 to 10 degrees cooler (and only 2 or 3 degrees when it's REALLY hot and muggy), but that's better than nothing. I did notice that if it's SUPER hot (95-105 degrees) and I crank it up all the way and position it so that the cool air is blowing directly on me, it feels very cool; much cooler than it actually is. I work at night and sleep during the day, and this thing blowing on me directly is how I've been able to sleep through the heat. I don't mind the noise because it masks the sounds of traffic, and I use headphones to watch TV. (I like the white noise and find it soothing, but I agree -- it IS VERY loud.)For aesthetics alone, it gets 5 stars. Minus 1 star because I think if they had spent as much time on engineering as design, it might be a better unit; in any case, I don't think they should claim 30 degrees without clarifying that you'd have to live in Death Valley for that. This thing is good enough, especially for the price, but I've used Bon Air and others in the past and I think they're better. However, they're also quite unattractive. Manufacturers, take note: Make your ugly boxes pretty and we will buy them.

Its works.
I like the whole product period. So first of all i live in hawaii and had the cooler for over 4 years now have no problems with it. Just for everyone to understand if you only have it in your home and not by a window your only circulating the air in your home to maybe 3 to 5 degrees bellow the house temp. As for me a bought a fan to put by the window and put the machine in front of the fan to have the outside air blow from the fan into the cooler. And add ice water. Night time i can bring air from outside through the cooler and bring it down to almost 58 degrees. Will try to put up some pictures later. In the day maybe almost 12 to 13 degrees down. From 97 to possibly 83. Im sure out of hawaii is much hotter. But just try what i did. Maybe you will be more satisfied....next im going to use the ac window portable piece plus the hose and mount that to the machine and see how far down in the degrees will go down. Also im speaking for a 20ft by 25ft bedroom.🤙Aloha.
