The Book Thief

This is a story about a little German girl growing up in Nazi germany and how she dealt with Nazi propaganda. Being Jewish I can say this might be sensitive to some people I’ve come to a place in my life where I accept history as what happened but some may not be ready for that. The Nazis claimed many victims and hurt many it’s a different pov and how others suffered and dealt with the Nazi regime. Viewer discretion is advised

Really brings out the pain and ignorance of war and how fearful people can turn on each other. My grandson in middle school needed to watch the movie. I felt it did not clearly identify the war and what was going on so some explaination was required. I guess it could apply to any war at any time. People who are afraid will do whatever they think will keep them safe. There is no such thing. The cruelty of some people when in power is gut wrenching.

After reading the novel, I decided I needed to see the movie, and I am glad I did. This movie is almost identical to the novel.

This story is one of my favorites. Realism and compassion highlight this story of children in WW2.

Great story. Well acted.

Great movie to introduce middle school students to the Holocaust. Not too much violence or anything too graphic, heart-warming story that kids and teachers can both enjoy.

I mean it’s a Nazi era movie so it is heart wrenching at times. It has a fantastic storyline and the characters and actors were perfect. Get your tissues ready…
