100% Irish Merino Wool Aran Button Cardigan - Fast delivery from Ireland (XX Large, Charcoal)

Have been looking for a wool cardigan for some time. Came across this and decided to take a shot despite reviews complaining about button holes and fit...etc... This cardigan was an excellent choice. I am a big guy 6'3" and 265 so I ordered an xxl....perfect. Yes, was a little tight at the bottom button but, that is how wool sweaters fit new. I have no doubt that this cardigan will wear nicely and loosen up over time. This sweater is very warm and looks great. This was shipped to me in a matter of days from Dublin in excellent condition. I am pretty confident you would never find an authentic Merino wool cardigan in the states as inexpensive and of the quality of this cardigan....Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to build a fire and relax in comfort.....

This is a well-made, very comfortable & stylish sweater for a man. I bought it to wear in & around the house, kind of like Ward Cleaver, during the winter months, but it's definitely nice enough to wear in public places - in fact, it's too nice not to. I am 6' 2", 245 lbs. & the 2x fits me exactly as I expected, so I'm very pleased about that. The wool is soft enough that even a "cotton only" person like me is not itchy when wearing it over short sleeves & that was my biggest concern. To be honest, I did tumble it in the dryer, no heat, with 2 Bounce sheets for about 40 minutes before I wore it. I gave it 5 stars despite the way the button holes are done, which seems really strange on an otherwise finely-crafted product. The holes appear to be just that - holes. There is no "border" around them, you just sort of cram the button through the opening. This is my first really upscale wool sweater, so maybe they're all that way & I'm not sophisticated enough to know it. I posted pix of the button holes, as viewed from front & back, to illustrate my point. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product & recommend it enthusiastically.

Update Feb '25: Still my favorite sweater. Wearing well since the addition of the elbow pads. Update Feb ‘23: The addition of elbow patches made a huge difference! It cost me $40, but the sweater feels even more comfortable now. Definitely my favorite sweater! Update Jan '23: Really love this sweater, but it has not worn well. After only 7 months, there is a hole in the right elbow which I was able to repair with needle and thread, but the wool has completely worn away. I plan to have a tailor add leather patches to extend the life of the product. I did reach out to the vendor and they responded within minutes (on a Sunday!) but the news was not what I hoped to hear. They informed me that since it had been longer than 60 days, there was nothing they would be able to do. Reasonable, I suppose, but disappointing and makes me wonder about their confidence in the product. L.L. Bean has a much better customer satisfaction policy, perhaps because their products wear so much better. Rating: I initially dropped my four star rating to three stars to reflect the lack of wearing longevity, but then added back the star to reflect how much I really like the product despite my initial misgivings. Really hoping the elbow patches do the trick! May '22: Have only worn this sweater a day, but here are my initial impressions and observations: 1. Merino wool is still wool. It is not soft, like cotton or cashmere, and is a bit scratchy on my bare arms. Not incredibly so, however. 2. Notwithstanding comment #1, the sweater is very comfortable. Seems to breathe nicely so I don't overheat. 3. It is a hand-wash only item. No washers, no dryers. 4. I am 6'1" and 197#. I like my cardigans to wear loosely...like a jacket. I would be drowning in an American XXL, but this XXL is actually a good fit for me. The length of the sweater is great for me (see photo). 5. I wear a 34" long sleeve shirt. The sweater sleeves come down just past my wrist--perfect for me. (see photos). 5. The "shawl collar" was very thin and small--I expected a much thicker roll to create a cozier collar. (see photo) 6. The two pockets are nicely deep. Despite/because all of this, I think I am going to love this sweater. It will be my "office sweater", worn daily most of the day in air conditioning. It's also nice looking!

It's so soft, and warm, and beautifully made. Love the color, and it arrived to the US in a week (even with current postal issues). I'm going to order another because I have a feeling I'll have this on every day that it's chilly out. The fit is as expected for a man's size. I would compare it to what I would expect from "The Gap". I'm 5'10, 230 and I bought an XXL (which is would I would wear from the gap) and it fits great. Even the length of it and the arm length (I buy a 32-33 in a dress shirt) is perfect. LOVE IT!

I am 6'3 245 lbs with long arms so it is difficult finding long sleeve shirts/jackets that fit me well. Usually I'm size XL but sometimes I need XL tall and rarely a Large fits. I read several reviews and decided to buy the size XXL and I'm glad I did - it fits perfectly! My main concern was sleeve length being too short but that's not the case. Amazon had the best price plus easy returns in case it didn't fit. Mine came in two days (didn't ship directly from Ireland) but looks like it is authentic.

This is a good quality sweater for the money. It is a very loose knit, good for use as an indoor sweater where I just want a little more warmth than a long sleeve shirt can provide without becoming to warm. Only negative is the overall length could be a few inches longer. I bought the XL which fits in the chest and arm length is ok but the sweater barely covers my belt (I am 6' tall). Another 3-4 inches in length would be ideal but for the price I paid it is still a good house sweater.

I'm an average build....5'11" 170lbs. and an XXL fit perfectly. So I would say be careful what size you order. Though from previous experience, I've learned that sizing can differ depending on the item's origin. This is straight from Ireland! I have no complaints at all. It's pricey, but the wool is such good quality it even has the slight scent of the farm it came from! That's a great thing. It arrived right on time...less than 2 weeks to Canada. I fully recommend!

Quality as expected for the price - comfortable to wear and happily used as a daily lounge jumper

Not as heavy/thick as suggested in the pictures which causes the front to bunch out of alignment when the buttons are done up. Have not returned as it’s ok for around the house.
