I am reading this book as part of a course ...
I am reading this book as part of a course at ASU titled Educating the Exceptional Child. I can honestly say that this is one of the most informative texts that I've read during my time attending ASU. It not only exposes current methodology but challenges the status quo by letting the reader know about possible areas of opportunity in the field, such as, improvements to the identification, response, and implementation of special educational needs and educational strategies. A must read for anyone going into the education or teaching field.

Great Intro. to Special Education book
I'm a professor & I reviewed several Intro. Special Education books. This one seems to be the most thorough. It goes into the laws and IEPs in more depth than other books. It covers all the special education categories in depth. You can also download PowerPoints & other instructor resources. Will be assigning this for my class.

Good content
I have started this book for school ahead of time and it is so informative and a nice change of pace from the textbooks I had b4 from a joke of a private university.

Lots of info
This book is a great introduction to special education concerns. There's a significant amount of information but it is still just an overview. It works hard to give student examples of conditions or concerns to make sure a student first view to given. Some of the "real stories of students" were helpful while others seemed to be stretching to fit as many circumstances as possible. I don't think one student could ever represent an entire condition or disorder.

Must read for anyone interested in special education
Great insight on special education students, it has everything, from stories, medical breakthroughs, history of how each problem was discovered, special facilities, recommendations, instructions, references, further reading and a fun way to read it as a whole. Really glad with my purchase, it helped me a lot for my university studies and exams.

if you can read it, it's worth it.
Yes, it's looseleaf. Yes, it's in black and white. Who cares!? That should not prohibit you from reading and learning. I really like that it was cheaper than any other online store (and my school bookstore), and I don't mind it being self-assembled as I am very crafty and enjoyed the process of creating a cute binder for it.
