An exceptional product for its type
I cook constantly with meat and vegetable broths, make many of them from scratch, and have been trying out every kind of shortcut broth base on the market for 40 years. Most of them are junk, essentially flavored salt. Their prototype is what's fondly called in the US a bouillon cube (and in British English a stock cube). Salt, sugar, thickeners, a little fat, and flavor enhancers make up products of that kind, and their common problem is that a little real flavor comes along with massive amounts of salt. This onion base is not like that, it's made primarily from onions in various forms (including toasted) with a bit of thickener, common natural flavor enhancers, and a minimal touch of salt. I've put it through some paces, it's genuine and useful and I just ordered more. It IS more pricey than most broth bases, even low-sodium ones; and I can see from the ingredients list that it's not expensive to make, so this firm is astute. (Little tip: You can very easily make dried toasted onion -- the basis of onion soup mixes and the flavor in sour-cream onion dips: just spread out ordinary dried chopped onion on a baking sheet and roast in a moderate oven until it's brown and aromatic. It keeps well in a closed jar. Now you're half-way to making your own Onion Soup And Seasoning Base, albeit the other half is a bit harder. :-)

Great brand!
I really like this product. It is a nice alternative to basic vegetable broth. It is versatile, flavorful and goes a long way. I have bought several products from this brand and I’m very impressed.

Good Gluten Free Option
My household had someone diagnosed with celiac recently and had to go gluten free. We got this as a replacement for the Lipton packets. It is pretty good. Not quite as flavorful as the Lipton but I like that it's a good size jar for the cost and we can make out chili, soups and dips. I'd say until Lipton goes back to it's GF version, we'll order this brand again when we need to.

best store bought onion base
I was looking for an onion soup with less salt for my husband (kidney disease). This is so much lower in sodium than others, like Lipton. The flavor is very nice and it only takes a couple of teaspoons per cup of water. I use it a lot in cooking. We really like a chuck roast cooked with this. I often add it to soups and stews. I recently put some in my slow cooker with a turkey breast (only half a cup) but the flavor of the turkey was great. I've ordered this twice and gave some to my daughter-in-law.

So tasty
My sister has Celiac so I tend to keep a lot of GF stuff in the house. This mix makes for excellent chip dip. I don't make it often, so this container lasts me about a year, so it is worth every penny.

gluten free onion soup base
I recently discovered my favorite onion soup mix was NOT gluten free. I have used this product in my favorite recipes & the flavor is very good. I am very pleased with this product & would purchase again.

Makes a Great Gluten Free Dip
I used this to make an awesome gluten free vegan dip. I mixed it with Kite Hill sour cream and my 2 kids kept eating it up on me! Can't complain. It was really really good and nice to be able to make something for chips or veggies. As with the glutenous stuff, make your dip earlier if you want to let the flavor settle in, but it will taste more mild, but great right away.
